If I Can't Be With You (A Rydellington Love Story)

Chapter 22: Mistakes

Rydel POV

I sit and watch Rosie dance with Ryland. Suddenly, I wonder where the heck is Ellington? I get up and walk around looking for them. I see Rocky and Riker talking. They look serious! Plus why do they have Ellington's phone? I walk over. "Hey guys!" I say smiling.

"Oh hey Delly." Rocky says fake smiling. I have a weird vibe. I look at Riker and he looks worried. "What's up?" Rocky asks bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Nothing. What's with you two?" I ask trying to act causal. "Nothing!" Rocky and Riker say at the same time. I roll my eyes and walk away and look for Ellington.

I see a closet light on with the door shut. I peek under to see Ellington's converse and Alexa's white lace flats. I lean my ear against the wall.

"Ellington I'm pregnant." Alexa blurts out. I start feeling dizzy and sweaty suddenly.

No. Not right now. This can't be happening. I must not have a panic attack or faint. The room feels like it's closing in on me.

Suddenly, the door bursts open making me fall backwards over the couch onto the floor with a BAM. Someone lifts me up and I quickly know it's Ellington. His eyes look watery.

"Can we talk?" He asks his voice cracking. He's trying not to cry. I nod and take his hand and walk to the bedroom and shut the door behind me. He goes and gets under the covers like a little kid hiding from a monster.

I lay on the bed and move him closer to me and his head is on my lap. I run my fingers through his hair. "I know what Alexa said." I say quietly, almost like a whisper. Suddenly, a tear rolls down his cheek.

"I'm sorry. This is all my fault. Everything I do ruins everything, Rydel." He says looking up at me. I shake my head. "I love you. I just don't get how you put up with me."

"Ellington, I love you too. I never have gave up on you. I never lost hope for us. Sure, you hooked up with another girl on accident. It wasn't on purpose though and that's different than it being on purpose. Then, I would be pissed. We aren't perfect." I say pulling him upward making him just sit up and put his arm around me.

"Rydel, what should I do?" He looks at me. Honestly, I have no idea what he should do. I look away from him. He carcasses my cheek making me smile. "We need to go back down." I nod and we both get out of the bed and go back downstairs.

Rosie was playing twister with Ross, and Riker. Rocky and Alexa were talking. They seemed okay. That's good. Ellington goes over and whispers into Ryland's ear. He comes back over and takes my hand and walks to the middle of the room.

I look at him and he smiles widely. Suddenly, Neon Trees's song "Lessons In Love (All Day All Night)" starts playing. A smile grows on my face. He puts his hands on my waist and I put my arms around his neck and we danced to the song.

"Its time for cake and presents!" Rosie runs up and says to us. Ellington picks her up and throws her over his shoulder.

"Come on my sack of potatoes!" He says making her laugh. I smile and walk to the dining room where everyone was waiting for Rosie. Ellington puts Rosie in her "princess" chair.

Soon, Rocky and Riker come in with the cake. We all start singing "Happy Birthday" to Rosie. Her eyes almost pop out at the sight of her favorite Disney movie on her birthday cake. Toy Story which is also Ellington's favorite.

"Thank you everybody for being at my birthday!" She says smiling. Ellington lights the candles and tells her to make a wish. She blows out her candles. "I wished for everybody to live happily ever after!" Everybody laughs. Alexa walks over to Rocky, who's sitting by me.

"Can we talk?" Alexa asks Rocky. He nods.

Rocky POV

Alexa and I walk outside. We look at each other. "Rocky..."

"I know. You're pregnant and all that jazz."

"Yeah. I'm sorry. Rocky... I don't think we can be together." She says quietly making me look at her. "I mean, I... I slept with your best friend."

"I know but you didn't know exactly you were-"

"Rocky we are breaking up." Alexa says. I stand there taking in my surrounding. "I'll be leaving now." Alexa gets her purse. I watch her movements.

"I love you." I blurt out. She looks at me. "I don't care about your past with Ellington. I care about right now. I forgive you for all your mistakes. Alexa, I want to be with you. I'm in love with you."

Alexa bites her lip. "I'm sorry Rocky. I just don't feel the same way." In that moment, my heart shattered. "Bye Rocky."

Time went by quicker than I thought. Three hours after, everybody was watching Toy Story 2 which Ellington and Rosie quoted everything. After that we all started dancing to music.

"Rocky twirl me!" Rosie says. I smile and twirl her.

Suddenly, we heard a gun shot.
