Chapter 23: Shots and Fire

Ellington POV

We all stop dancing and looked at each other. "Was that fireworks?" Rosie asks.

"Rosie go to your room and lock your door. Don't open it unless uncles or daddy or me say to, okay?" Rydel asks Rosie. She nods and runs to her room. We hear the door lock.

"Everybody make sure the doors are locked." Riker orders. Rydel and her brothers check the doors and windows.

When that was finished, we all settled in the living room. Rydel sat by me and lays her hand on mine. I smile and intertwine our fingers together. Gosh, I wanna make out with her.

Suddenly, the big window in front of the living crashes by gun shots making me pull Rydel on the ground. Rocky was looking like he was going to cry at any moment. Ryland and Ross looked worried. Riker looked calm. Suddenly, I hear a door open and feet coming down the stairs. Rosie.

"Rosie no stay!" I yell making Rydel perk her head up. Rosie appears and suddenly, a bullet comes through and hits her in the stomach making her cry out in pain. I let go of Rydel and crawl over to Rosie bleeding out.

This is bad. I pull her close to me and put her in my lap. "Rosie, it's okay. It's going to be okay. Look at me. Look in my eyes. Don't focus on anything else. Just my eyes." I whisper. Her hazel eyes look into mine. I tried not to burst into tears.

Rydel sat by me and held her hand. She started into her ear making everybody crowd around. Rocky was crying.

Oohhh." Rydel sings pulling Rosie out of my lap onto hers. The gunshots have stopped.

Suddenly, I hear banging on the door. Rocky gets up and runs then opens the door to Alexa covered in blood crying. Her stomach was bleeding. Rocky pulled her inside and locked the door behind him.

"There was people.... Outside. They had masks. One of them grabbed my throat and threw me against the bricks. I was crying my head off. I didn't know what was happening. Then there were the gun shots.

I started yelling 'Don't Hurt Them please' making the person slap me. I was scared. It lasted until the window crashed. The guy shot me in the stomach before he started the house. I was in pain...." Alexa says tears streaming down her face holding her stomach.

"Mommy... I can't feel my legs." Rosie whines. Rydel nods and rubs her shoulders. Riker starts calling 911.

Suddenly, the kitchen bursts into flames making everybody spring up. Rydel holds Rosie and everybody quickly runs out. Rocky carries Alexa bridal style outside.

The ambulance starts driving up to our street. Rydel looks at Riker. "Hold her!" She commands. Riker carefully takes Rosie, who was crying. This must be a horrible birthday.

The police pull up. Rydel takes off running inside the house making me start to run after her but my hand gets pulled back by a police guy. "Stay outside its too dangerous to get back inside." I shake my head.

"My wife is inside!" I yell. "Please!"

"Sorry sir. It's too dangerous." The fire truck arrives. Suddenly, the upstairs room, Rosie's room, makes a explosion sound.
