Chapter 25: Moments Like These

Ellington POV

I couldn't comprehend what was happening. Rydel was silent after her plea. I sat confused looking at Rosie. She looked almost dead. Which, she wasn't. Her heart monitor was still rising and falling every beat. She had fallen asleep soon after she got hooked up to IVs and all that hospital things.

I kept thinking about Rydel. She was either with Riker, Ross, or Ryland. Ross and Ry came in one while Riker came in the other. I called Ross. He answered on the first ring talking really fast. "Hey Ellington uh Ryland called the ambulance uh crash uh yeah bye."

I stared at my phone confused. That was totally normal.... Not. I stand up and walk down the hall to Alexa's room. She was awake and staring into space. Rocky wasn't in the room. "You'd be happy to know that... Miscarriage happened." She mutters. I nod and walk back out.

I sit against the wall watching people come and go as they please. Suddenly, someone caught my eye. I couldn't believe it! I walk over and tap on this dark brown with a tint of red hair wearing glasses and a doctor's coat. She turns and we both stare at each other. Finally, she smiles and pulls me into a hug.

"Ellington! Oh my you have changed! Wait, why are you here? Who's hurt?" Kelly asks. I chuckle and smile at her.

"Well.. Remember when I came and stayed with you cause I thought Rydel cheated on me? Well she was actually pregnant. So.. We have a daughter named Rosie. She um...." I didn't know how to say my daughter got shot in a gun attack on her birthday out loud.

"Oh that is your daughter? I saw her page and her last name and I thought she was related to you. Oh my gosh I'm so sorry!" She hugs me. I hug her back tightly.

Suddenly, the doors burst out with Rydel and Riker on hospital beds. I had to blink multiple times to make sure this was real. Kelly looked at both of them and ordered the ambulance people into certain rooms. Then, she looked at me and grabbed my hand and went into a room labeled "On Call Room".

She instructs me to sit and I do. We sit by each other in silence. Kelly places her hand over mine and squeezes it. I burst into tears and look down. "It'll be okay Ellington. It's okay." Kelly reassures me. I look at her and her lips is centimeters away from mine.

I stare at her eyes. I see my own reflection. Slowly, her lips touched mine. Her lips were moist and tasted like cherries. I kiss her back forgetting about the world around me. In that moment it seemed everything has disappeared. That time stopped.

We were kissing for about two minutes when a little girl walks in. "Mom- Oh hi." She mumbles.

I stared at her. She had curly dark brown hair with deep brown eyes. Her smile resembled Kelly's. Meanwhile, she looked like someone else I knew too. I stood up and started walking to the door when Kelly pulls me back and kisses me passionately.

I didn't know what to do so I just kissed her. A door opened and I heard a "what the heck" escape from a mouth. I pull back to see Rocky wide eyed. The little girl was reading.

Rocky basically grabbed my shirt collar and pulled me away and walked back to the outside of Rosie's room. His eyes were daggers. "You were kissing Kelly. Kelly as in the psychopath who blackmailed Rydel. Who I must say, HATES RYDEL! Like.. What were you doing man?"

"I... I don't know. It was in the moment." I say quietly. Suddenly, we both heard a sound.

Rosie's heart was slowing down.
