If I Can't Be With You (A Rydellington Love Story)

Chapter 26: Second Thoughts

Rydel POV

I awoke with the sudden urge to sit up. I try to but wince when pain goes through my chest making me lay there. Ross smiled and watched me. "You're awake! I was so worried about you and Riker!"

Riker. I totally forgotten about him. I open my mouth but no words come out. Why can't I talk? Or sit up? I put my arms out to signal help. Ryland puts his hands behind my back and slowly helps me sit up. I smile and lean over to hug him but it hurt.

Suddenly, I heard yelling. Rocky. Ellington. Ross and Ryland look at each other curious. I look around and see a whiteboard with a marker and a eraser. I point towards it. I forgot though that weren't looking at me. I sigh and make a "eeeee ouchhhh" sound making them look at me. I point again.

"Oh!" Ryland and Ross say in perfect synch. Ross grabs it for me and hands it to me.

'GET ELLINGTON AND ROCKY IN HERE NOW!' I write all caps. Ryland walks out. It took a few minutes to get them in here.

Ellington walks in and our eyes meet. Just his eyes make me want to kiss him. He smiles and Rocky looks pissed. "Rosie went to emergency surgery." Rocky says and I nod making a pop go down my spine. "Ellington kissed Kelly also." He mumbles. It takes a moment to realize what he just said.

I take my board and throw at Ellington and open my mouth to yell and all that came out was screechy sounds making my brothers and Ellington stare at me. I point to Ellington then my bed and then point to all my brothers then the door. All of them understood. Ellington sits on my bed by me while every one leaves. We stare at each other and he picks up the whiteboard for me.

"Why?" I wrote.

"It was in the moment and meant nothing. I swear. It meant nothing." He states. I get a drink of ginger ale feeling the bubble sensation in my throat making me burp. Ellington smiles. "I promise."

"H-How can I be sure? Y-you b-b-broke a prom-promise before." I say stuttering. He nods and takes my hand.

"I am serious. I swear I cross my heart." Ellington says squeezing my hand. I nod and kiss his cheek making him blush.

Ross walks in and sits on the other side of me. "Rosie is back." This makes me anxious. I want to see my daughter. Rosie Anne. Rocky walks in with a wheelchair for me. Ellington moves and takes off my covers showing my legs covered in bruises and blood.

I put my arm around Ellington's neck and he puts his arm around my waist while I attempt to stand. I bite my lip and start to stumble then Ellington picks me up. He gently lifted me up off my feet and sat me down gently in the wheelchair.

"Where are we going?" I ask quietly. Rocky laughs and pushes the wheelchair.

"TO NARNIAAAAAAAA!!!!!!" He yells and everyone giggled including me.

As he pushes down the hall I see Riker in his hospital bed. I put my arms out horizontally making everyone stop behind me. "I'll be there in a minute. Go without me." I mumble worrying that it was quiet enough nobody could hear.

Luckily, they heard. They left me and started walking. Ellington peeked behind his shoulder to look at me. Then, he turns around and walks backwards. 'I love you' he mouths to me. I smile and move my hands into a heart shape. (This was hard when my hands couldn't stop shaking). He nods and spins back around then walks.

I push my wheels on my wheelchair into Riker's room. I get close enough and I grab his hand and lay my head on his shoulder.

"Hey Riker. You probably can't hear me right now. I just need someone to talk to. First, if you can hear me I'm sorry we got in that crash. Karma follows me I guess," I giggle whispering into his ear,"Ellington kissed Kelly. I don't know how I feel about that.

"He says it was nothing. She kissed him. You might think I'm crazy but Kelly set the house on fire. Probably shot Rosie and Alexa. If you're wondering, I am confused. Riker... Do you think Ellington and I will stay together?" I ask. I don't know why I asked but he's asleep.

"Rydel..." He mumbles opening his eyes and I scream.

"YOURE AWAKE!"

"I have been awake..." Riker says making me giggle. I hug him the best I could. "I heard everything. Delly, its not my call on things like that. I know you and Ell love each other."

"I'm just worried. Maybe... We made a mistake." Riker sits up and looks at me.

I remember once he took me to the park. We sat on the swings and just talked. He always knew how to make me feel better. He has always been my best friend. He always has been there for me. Even when we had our bad times, I still went to him to make me feel better.

"Come on lets go." He says and stands up out of the hospital bed. How? What! He can stand up but I can't. Dang.

Riker walks slowly behind my wheelchair pushing it. As we go in, Rosie was asleep peacefully. Ellington was holding her hand in a deep thought. Riker pushed me to the side of the bed and I take her other hand and look at her.

Ross, Ryland, Rocky, and Riker went out of the room. It was only Ell, Rosie, and I. Ellington looked at me and I looked at him. His face broke out into a grin. I pushed my wheelchair over to the other side where he was. Ellington sat on me making me make a weird sound.

"DellyBelly I need some peanut butter and jelly." He mumbles into my neck kissing my neck making me giggle. I push him off me and he pouts.

Suddenly, Rosie's eyes open wide and she smiled. "Daddy, Mommy, you two are okay." She mumbles. We look at each other.

"We are okay." Ellington says kissing her forehead.

The only thing is:

I don't know if we are okay.

The original plan of this chapter I was going to make Riker suddenly die. Then, I decided not to cause lets face it: WE LOVE RYDEL AND RIKERS BROTHER SISTER RELATIONSHIP!!

Wednesday was my birthday! I'm now 15! It seems impossible! I'm now going to start doing QOTC (question of the chapter!)

QOTC: Would you be still worried about Ellington kissing Kelly? Would you forgive him as easily as Rydel did?
