Jason broke out of his thoughts and cleared his throat. Irene shifted her gaze towards him and smiled.
"I bought sandwiches!" He chimed.
"Thank you" she said politely.
"You wear glasses?" He questioned while putting his hand at the back of his neck, nervously.
"Yeah... I have bad eyesight but i avoid them" she answered sheepishly.
"Why?" His eyebrows raised, he was happy he only got to see this side of her.
"Well.... I had them since i was 10 and I started wearing them too much to the point where i slept wearing them so i had to get out of the habit of wearing them all the time." She explained sitting up straight as he sat near her.
For about an hour and more they both worked on their project together. Irene noticed the time and spoke, "it's getting late i should get going."
Only then Jason realized it has been more than an hour, he didn't realize the time pass by with her, he was surprised they were working on a project how could he not get bored.
He stood up while speaking, "I will drive you back."
"It's okay you don't have to" she protested.
"No, your mom told me to get you back safe." he smiled cheekily.
She sighed remembering their instant bonding, "fine." She chuckled as she rolled her eyes.
"Thank you for having me" Irene spoke to Jason's brother as she was leaving.
He smiled at her sweetly, "you are always welcome here to visit again" he lightly patted her head.
They bid good bye and started on their way to her house.
"Your brother is really nice" Irene spoke to Jason smiling.
"Yes, he is the responsible one" he nodded with his gaze on the road.
"Hey! But don't get close to him, get close to me" he teased her.
She just rolled her eyes at his remark and looked out of the window.
"What about your parents?" She questioned, her eyes still at the scenery passing by.
"They both are usually out, working the whole day" he answered casually.
"But they still make time for us" he gave a soft smile, Irene looked over at his focused gaze on road, he looked happy which made her smile too.
"It's really nice to know" she said still looking at him, he felt her gaze and glanced at her side, she turned her face to look out the window again. He couldn't make out the expression on her face, he saw the same expression before.
He decided not to ask about it, he didn't knew what to ask.
They finally reached her house, she got out Jason following behind her. She turned to him when she was at the door.
"Thank you" she smiled.
"Um....yeah, no problem." He spoke nervously.
"Are you alright?" She questioned her eyebrows lifted in confusion.
He realised he might have sounded different than his usual self so he quickly decided to cover it up.
"Ofcourse! Why wouldn't i be? I just scored a date with you!" He winked at her making her realise that he is in fact alright.
"No you didn't! Wow!" She crossed her hands as she stared at him with uninterested eyes.
"Well yes it was suppose to be work, but two people together alone can be termed as date" he stated proudly.
