Never feeling like they belonged was a feeling that Lissa Dragomir lived with, even with her family and life long best friend, although they aided in that feeling not being so strong...

The group arrived at a plaza consisted of a wide, open area in front of a shopping center. A café was carved into acorner of the main building, its tables spilling out into the open area. A crowd moved in and outof the complex, busy even at this time of the day.
The group of Strigoi were clearly well organised and sane, which in itself was scary. The 3 Dhampirs that were alive and walking with the Moroi, knew Strigoi to be wild, unpredictable, and savage, not organised, and that scared the more than anything, almost as much as Seeing Kate's limp body slung over the should of one of the Strigoi.
Lissa was still sniffeling, although she was angry and wanted nothing more than to burn the Strigoi herself, the emptiness that she felt without Kate was unbearable. And while she sniffled, Viktoria was afraid, not for herself, but for every Strigoi present and far away, she was afraid of her brother's reaction to finding Kate dead. Mason on the other hand feared Diana's reaction.
The group was defenseless, the only stake that they had was left behind at the club by the Strigoi that bit Kate, when they left through the backdoor.
They were led to the opposite end of the mall, through a door marked STAFF ONLY. They didn't dodge the janitors there, but the way that they looked impressed, it was clear that these Human janitors were working in league with the Strigoi, were the types of Humans that were helping take down Moroi Families and Dhampirs.
They passed through another door that led them to a set of stairs going down, stairs that were dirty and smelled pretty nasty almost like rotting iron, or as the Moroi quickly identitied, dried blood.
Ugly fluorescent lights were embedded sporadically along the walls at the bottom, a long narrow corridor that was meant to look like a tunnel was lined with grime-caked cement. They walked down to the right and found more of the same.
To a normal Dhampir just patrolling it would look just like a boring corridor, that lead nowhere, but to teenagers being led by Strigoi, it was clear that they were headed somewhere private, secret..... like pigs being led to slaughter
They passed some black writing on one of the walls, which the Dhampirs stopped and stared at, much to the annoyance of the Strigoi, who despite their nature, allowed the stop with sadistic smiles on their faces.
