Chapter 40 (part I): An Interesting First Date!

The Ferris wheel slowly gets to a stop and people started to flock out of the boxes, a certain new couple with them. Red and Mew exited the ride with smiles on their faces and hands together "come on Red let's go!" Mew shouted and dragged Red across the streets "wait, hold on where are we going?" He asked while trying to keep himself standing "I don't know let's just go!" Mew responded laughing and the two ran into the maze that is Lumiose city

Ash and Serena watched the two teens running of laughing. Serena was barely able to hold back her laughter Ash had a very worried look on his face. However Serena noticed this "they'll be fine" she told her fiance and put a hand on his shoulder "that doesn't mean I'm not worried" he said looking at the two disappear into the streets. Serena kissed his cheek and hugged his arm "Just let them do their thing you know that Red is more the capable of protecting her. Come on let's go find our mothers we promised them we'll meet them" She suggested and rested her head on Ash's shoulder. Ash smiled and put his head on Serena's "you're probably right" he kissed Serena's head "Ok let's go" he said and the two went looking for their mothers

"What were you thinking of doing?" Red asked his girlfriend. Mew shrugged "I don't know I thought we'd just explore for a bit" Red sweatdropped "so you don't have any Idea?" He asked. Mew looked around and found her answer "there!" She said and pointed in the direction of the carnival games "Maybe we'll find something fun to do there?" Red took her hand and the two made there way to the rides. Mew looked around for a bit "what do you say we go there?" She suggested. Red looked at the direction she was looking at and a smile appeared on his face.

Mew was pointing at a battlefield

"You want to battle?" Red asked surprised. Mew nodded "surprised?" She asked "Yeah a bit" Mew chuckled "I may look cute and cuddly on the outside but I'm really strong, and I kinda missed battling" Mew admitted. Red looked concerned and Mew noticed that "what's the matter?" She asked and hugged his arm. He sighed "how can I battle with you? You're a legendary Pokemon, people would be suspicious!" Mew stared at her boyfriend and then giggled "don't worry about that" She assured him "Maybe I won't be a legendary Pokemon.." she said. Red looked at her confused "what do you mean?" He asked. Closed her eyes and concentrated, the legendary Pokemon glowed pink and slowly she was transforming, but not to her normal Pokemon form. After the glow subsided in front of Red stood an Espeon

"Mew is that you?" Red asked and held the psychic type in his arm 'yep' said Mew's voice in his head 'dad taught me that. Although I still can't fully get the hand of Pokemon that are not my type' Mew's guilty voice reached his head. Red chuckled "are you kidding me? that's amazing!" Mew transformed back into her human form and Red could see the slight tan of blushing on her face "are you ready?" He asked her and pointed toward the battlefield. Mew nodded "Let's do it"

The two made their way to the battlefield (it's the same battlefield Ash and Clemont had their first battle) and waited for the current battle to end. It was a Haxorus vs a Torterra. The turtle Pokemon seemed to be winning but then at the last second Haxorus use his secret card: flamethrower and ended the match "Torterra is unable to battle, Haxorus is the wins which the winner is Leon!" The Galar champion span in his place and did his famous pose which got a lot of cheers from the crowd "I hope you all had a magnificent champion time!" He declared and returned his Pokemon. Leon began looking around for a new opponent "now who would like to battle next?" The Galar champion asked and looked around. Almost instantly everyone start pleading for Leon to choose them but he ignored everyone and began searching for a worthy opponent on his own. And when his eyes landed on red he knew exactly who to pick

"The Kanto champion Red I challenge you to a battle!" He said, looking directly at Red and Mew. Red looked at his girlfriend with a questioning glance to see if she accepts the battle as well. Mew smiled warmly at him and nodded her head. The psychic Pokemon stop on the tips of her feet and whispered to Red "I'll go transform. I'm not so comfortable with people knowing I'm a Pokemon yet, let alone a mew" she somehow managed to peck his cheek with nobody seeing and ran off
