James Potter didn't sleep a wink that night. He kept on replaying the look on her face.

How she averted her eyes to his red and gold bedsheet and the tears welling up in the corners of her eyes.

"The first time you kissed me, I was afraid that I wasn't enough for you. I suppose I'm not, aren't I?"

James couldn't do anything but stare at the hot chocolate stain on his carpet.

He heard her make her way back to the window until he heard it shut again. Only then did he look back up.

He rubbed his eyes to get rid of his drowsiness and made his way to the kitchen where he could here his parents in the midst of their morning routine.

"You're up early." Fleamont acknowledged his son.

"Couldn't sleep." James poured himself a cup of coffee and avoided looking at the color altogether, afraid that it would just stir up the already raw memory from the night before.

"I couldn't sleep either." His mom admitted, "Oh that Odille was awful to August, bugged me the whole night."

"I suppose she'll floo to France today after their fallout." His father mused as he slowly sipped on his tea.

"An absent father and a mother like that, you don't suppose we offer her a place here?" Euphemia asked her husband.

James marveled at his mother's kindness. She wore her heart on her sleeve and it made James worry that she would get hurt. James knew he was irrational, his mother had dealt with plenty if hurt in her life and she could handle herself.
"Having a soft heart in a cruel world doesn't make you weak James, if anything it's brave."

James knew that if he ever introduced Lily to his parents, Euphemia and Lily would be like two peas in a pod.

That's something that James loved about Lily too, het soft-heartedness and compassion. Where Lily saw the best in people and loved the world around her, August seemed to do everything on impulse. If someone gave her "bad vibes" she told them they gave her "bad vibes", it she didn't like something she stated it.

Lily thought things through, August jumped first.

James found himself wondering, not for the first time, how he had managed to become entangled with two girls who were the complete opposites of one another.

"We can, although I doubt she'd accept it" Fleamont answered his wife's question. "She's a proud one."

Euphemia hummed in response clearly in another world.

Sirius decided that the cold day in Godric's Hollow would not go to waste.

He ushered his friends out of the front door, each boy wrapped in a coat and pulling on their gloves on their way to have the biggest Marauders snowball fight in the history of Marauders.

Sirius and James ran to the slope of the Potter yard and started to assemble their ammunition and build their base.

Peter and Remus doing the same around the corner of the house.
