HENDRIX'S POV:
I walked over to Trixie's house, my eyes looking around everywhere as I walked up to her front door. She'd told me she was home alone and I wanted to trust her. But the paranoia was driving me insane.
I raised my hand to knock on the front door but she pulled it open before my knuckles could even touch the glass panels. She stared at me with a cheesy grin and I realised she was waiting for me.
"Creep" I said, walking inside as she laughed. I looked at her outfit, a red bralette with black booty shorts. She was definitely home alone.
She closed the front door and wrapped her arms around my neck from behind.
"I missed you, bestie" she whispered in my ear.
"Bestie?" I repeated, placing a hand on hers and raising my eyebrows "so I see we've upgraded from the friends status?". She giggled shyly as I turned around and placed my hands on her hips.
"Where is everyone?" I asked curiously. I was genuinely asking, I didn't have any bad intentions.
"Why do you care?" she asked, taking my hand and walking into her kitchen. I looked around as we spoke, her house was perfectly normal, what else did I expect?
Mattia polibio waiting for me with a gun aimed to my head? Yeah, something like that.
"I'm just asking" I said, raising my hands in the air. But the smirk vanished off her face as her eyes went down to my jacket pocket.
"Trixie.."
But she walked towards me, unzipping the pocket and pulling out the small handgun.
"I can explain" I started, but she didn't care.
"Were you planning on killing someone in my family if you saw them?"
I held my breath, looking down at the grey tiles. I felt awful. I hated myself for it. But what choice did I have? Our families despised each other and they always would. No matter how much I loved her.
"Oh my god, you were" she whispered, staring at the gun in her hands.
"No-"
"Get out" she said quietly. Staring over my shoulder and at the wall. I didn't even blame her for not being able to look at me right now.
"Trixie-"
"Shut up!" she shouted, pushing me backwards "my own mother? Would you have killed her?"
Yes.
"No!" I shouted back, but she shook her head, taking a step back away from me with fear in her eyes.
"Liar" she whispered. I exhaled, trying to see a way out of this but my phone started ringing instead. I answered the call, hoping Trixie would've calmed down by the time I hung up.
"Hey Ma" I said, watching her eyes widen a little as she realised who my mother was.
"I'm at a girl's place" I answered "yes that girl, okay I'll see you soon". I hung up and placed my phone in my pocket, looking at Trixie.
"She doesn't know it's me, does she?" she asked.
"If she did, neither of us would be alive right now"
She nodded slowly, a tear sliding down her cheek as she placed the gun on the counter.
"Don't cry, Trix" I said, moving towards her but she quickly held a hand up to stop me from coming any closer.
"Just leave" she said "I don't think I'll ever want to be around you again"
It stung like a bitch hearing that. It was like everything I had, had just been snatched away from me just like that. And there was absolutely nothing I could do about it now. I nodded, picking up the gun and walking out the kitchen. I heard her crying but couldn't find it in me to turn back.
-
I closed my front door behind me, walking up to my room to find Daisy sleeping in my bed. Her eyes shot open when I closed my bedroom door.
"Oh hi" she yawned, rubbing her eyes with her tiny hands.
"Hey, D" I said softly, going to sit on the edge of my bed "did Mom and Dad have a screaming match?"
She nodded, frowning at me "it was scary without you here, I came to sleep in your room but you weren't even here"
I felt guilty and quickly went over to give her a hug. She clutched onto my shirt and I rubbed her back, trying to calm her down.
"I'm here now, Daisy"
"When's that pretty girl coming over again? I've got so many new shows for her to watch with me and I kinda miss her" she said. I smiled sadly as she rambled on about Trix.
"But I'm here, am I not good enough?" I asked.
"No" she said bluntly "you're no fun and you don't like watching my shows with me on the iPad plus she smells really nice"
"And what do I smell like?" I asked her. She tapped her chin for a second, I didn't know it was that hard.
"Chocolate" she said finally. I furrowed my brows at her strange answer as a proud grin spread across her little face and her brown eyes lit up.
"You're so weird" I sighed, kissing the top of her head. I got up and made a bed for myself on the floor as she watched. After everything that'd happened tonight, I was looking forward to sleeping in my own bed but Daisy had other plans. Plus, she moved around so much in her sleep so I wasn't taking that.
"Hendrix?"
"Hm?" I looked over at her before going into the bathroom. She fiddled with her hands as she built up the courage to ask me whatever it was.
"So can you maybe invite her over for a playdate with me tomorrow?"
I smiled, nodding my head.
"I'll see what I can do for you"
