The day had come, at last—the wedding day. It had been one year to the day since Fred proposed to Delaney. And yes, even though Delaney had grown up despising the idea of marriage, she couldn't wait to marry Fred Weasley. She loved him with everything she was. She couldn't think of anything more she wanted to do than spend her life with him. And now, that day was finally upon her.
Delaney would be lying if she said she wasn't nervous. She felt her stomach twist into knots. Her anxiety was telling her she was too young, that she should wait. But, her heart told her he was the one.
"This is insane. How am I going to do this?" she muttered, pacing in front of the mirror in Ginny's room, her fingers twisting in her palms.
"Delaney, are you ready for us to come in? We know you need help with your dress," Ginny asked, knocking on the door.
"Yes, you can come in," Delaney said through the door.
"Wow, Delaney you look beautiful," Hermione said in an awed tone as she entered. She and Ginny were in burgundy-colored dresses. They each wore a different style dress that they got to pick out as bridesmaids. Hermione was chosen as the maid of honor. Thankfully, Ginny wasn't upset. She was just excited to be a bridesmaid for Delaney, and to plan her bachelorette party, of course.
"Yes, you look quite stunning," Ginny smiled, taking in the sight of Delaney.
"Thanks, guys," she smiled, turning to face the mirror, "Can one of you fasten these buttons?"
"I'll do it," Ginny said a grin.
"Oo, and I'll put the veil on," Hermione gushed.
Delaney wiped her clammy hands against her hips, watching in the mirror as Ginny fastened each button on her back. Hermione stood atop Ginny's trunk, reaching over her to securely fasten the veil in Delaney's hair. She wore a white lace, long-sleeved wedding dress that hugged her body perfectly. The dress looked as though it was made for her to wear. The veil was a plain, sheer fabric that sat just below the crown of her head and trailed down to the small train of her dress. Her hair was parted down the middle, curled into large, loose curls that fell just below her shoulder blades.
"Oh, I was never a super girly girl—perks of growing up with six brothers—but you look absolutely stunning," Ginny smiled, sitting down on her bed, Hermione at her side.
"Are you ready?" Hermione inquired with a bright smile.
Delaney looked at herself in the mirror again, she looked beautiful. "Yes? No, who am I kidding, it's too soon. I'm not even twenty yet, and I'm getting married? Why did I think this was a good idea? I'm a fool, that's why I thought it was a good idea," she said, twisting the ring on her finger as she paced the room.
"Delaney, you love Fred," Hermione pointed out.
"And he is absolutely crazy about you I might add," Ginny agreed with a nod.
Suddenly, a knock sounded on the door. Tonks poked her head through the opening of the door she created, "How's she doing?"
"She's completely freaking out," Ginny said matter-of-factly.
"I figured," Tonks grinned. "Delaney, darling, you were the one to calm me down before I married Remus, and now it's time I repay the favor. Now, tell me, what's got you so worried?"
"Everything," Delaney exclaimed, "I'm not even twenty, yet I'm getting married. We're too young."
"Delaney, look at me," Tonks placed her hands on her shoulders, "Breathe."
Delaney nodded, taking a deep breath in and out.
"Do you love him?" she asked.
"Of course, I do. I love him more than anything, well, Teddy's up there as well," she giggled.
