Delaney awoke the next morning with a jolt of excitement. Today was the day she looked forward to every year. Christmas. She jumped up and quickly threw on a jumper before she walked over to Hermione.

"Hermione, wake up! It's Christmas!" Delaney said, happiness dripping from her every word.

"Delaney? Are you seriously waking me up right now? We usually have to drag you out of bed," Hermione laughed as best she could. She stood from her bed, rubbing her eyes to adjust to the light.

"Well I guess I'm just excited this year, even more than usual," Delaney said with a smile.

"But why? There's nothing different from this year than the past ones. Well, except for the fact that Lupin was here last year." Hermione pulled a jumper over her pajamas, smoothing her hair out before turning to Delaney.

"Ah well, that's where you're wrong Hermione. Everything is different this year," Delaney said with a pinch of excitement.

"How is it any different?"

"Fred asked me to be his girlfriend last night...and I said yes," Delaney said with a great big smile on her face.

"What?!" Hermione asked, her eyes growing wide. "Oh, that's wonderful! Is this what you want?"

Delaney knew Hermione did not come from a place of malice. She knew better than anyone why Delaney was hesitant. She nodded, "Yeah, I think it is."

Hermione's face lit up, "Oh, I'm so happy for you. And it's about time."

"What are you two yelling about this early in the morning?" Ginny asked, walking into Delaney and Hermione's room.

"Fred and Delaney finally made it official last night," Hermione smiled knowingly.

"Oh yeah, I already knew that," Ginny said, sitting on Delaney's bed.

"You told her before me?" Hermione hissed, hitting Delaney's arm.

"Ow!" Delaney paused, "Ginny was right there with us when we told George that's why she knew before you."

"Who else knows?" Hermione asked, disbelief filling her voice.

"Angelina does because she was George's date and she was right there when we said it," Delaney admitted.

"Oh and Neville knows too," Ginny added.

"Right Neville knows. I forgot he was next to Ginny," Delaney nodded reluctantly.

"This is unbelievable, you'd think I would have known first because I'm your best friend," Hermione quipped.

"Well I was going to tell you but you were busy with Krum and then Fred and I left early. So I'm telling you now. Isn't that better than me letting you figure it out on your own?" Delaney asked. She would have loved for Hermione to be one of the first to know. Hermione was her best friend, and that did stand for something, but the circumstances didn't allow it.

"I suppose so. Does Ron know?" Hermione asked.

"No not yet, but I'm going to let Fred do that," Delaney laughed, secretly relieved she didn't have to do that. She wasn't scared of Ron but she certainly didn't want to deal with his attitude.

"Good call," Ginny laughed. "Should we go down to the common room now? I heard Fred and George down there and it sounded like Ron may be there too."

"We probably should before they open all of their gifts without us down there," Delaney laughed as the three girls began to walk down the stairs.

"Ah look who's finally up," Fred smiled as the three girls walked into the common room.

"It's only like eight in the morning. What do you mean finally?" Delaney asked, taking a seat next to Fred. While Ron was turned the other way, Fred's hand grabbed hers, giving it a gentle squeeze before releasing it when Ron turned back around.
