"Are you sure you don't want to take any Puking Pastilles to Umbridge's class?" Fred asked as he and Delaney walked through the corridors.

"It's only the first day of classes. Besides, she might not be as bad as she seems," she looked up at him. Only she was trying to convince herself that more than her.

Fred abruptly stopped in front of Delaney, "You're joking right?"

"Well, you never know." She knew Fred was probably right but she wanted to look at things with a positive perspective.

"If you change your mind about Umbridge you know where to find them," Fred shrugged his shoulders before he began walking again.

"Speaking of Umbridge, what time is it?" Delaney asked.

"About ten til one," Fred answered.

"I've got to go. I have to get to Umbridge's class," Delaney said as she turned to walk the other way.

"Wait," Fred pulled her hand back to him.

"What?" she smiled.

"You forgot something," he smiled as he gently pecked her lips.

"Fred, you know I hate doing that in the corridors for everyone to see," she looked up at him with a grin. As much as she hated people seeing them kiss in the corridors she had to admit that she did love the closeness.

"I'm sorry, my love language is touch," he grinned.

"Don't I know it," she grinned before she quickly kissed Fred one more time and continued on her way to Defense Against the Dark Arts with Umbridge. She had just made it in time to sit beside Hermione before Umbridge set fire to a paper bird that was flying around the classroom.

"Good morning children," Umbridge said in her mockingly sweet voice.

"She does know it's one o'clock right?" Delaney whispered to Hermione who chuckled.

"Ordinary Wizarding Level examinations, O.W.Ls. More commonly known as Owls. Study hard and you will be rewarded. Fail to do so and the consequences may be severe," Umbridge smiled as the textbooks she had placed on her desk began to move toward each student. "Your previous instruction in this subject has been disturbingly uneven but you'll be pleased to know from now on you will be following a carefully structured, ministry-approved, course of defensive magic."

Delaney and Hermione closely began examining the book to find there was nothing about using any form of defensive magic. Hermione quickly raised her hand. Delaney would be lying if she said she was surprised

"Yes?" Umbridge asked.

"There's nothing in here about using defensive spells," Hermione said with wrinkled brows.

"Using spells?" Umbridge laughed. "Well, I can't imagine why you would need to use spells in my classroom."

"We're not going to use magic?" Ron asked. Many in the class had the same confused expression he had.

"You will be learning about defensive spells in a secure, risk-free, way," Umbridge nodded, sure her answer was sufficient enough.

"What use is that? If we're going to be attacked it won't be risk-free," Harry interrupted.

"Students will raise their hands when they speak in my class," Umbridge's tone turned cold." It is the view of the Ministry that theoretical knowledge will be sufficient to get you through your examinations. Which after all, is what school is all about."

"And how's theory supposed to prepare us for what's out there?" Harry asked, a bite presenting itself in his town.

"Hermione, we need to calm him down," Delaney whispered to her.

"Harry calms down," Hermione whispered to him but naturally, he ignored it.

"There is nothing out there dear. Who do you imagine wants to attack children like yourself?" Umbridge inquired.

"Oh, I don't know, maybe Lord Voldemort," Harry shrugged as if it was a nonchalant answer. The classroom grew quieter than it had been before.

"Hermione, we need to stop him," Delaney whispered again. She knew things would not end well if he continued.

"I don't know what to do," Hermione responded in the same hushed whisper.

"Let me make this quite plain. You have been told that a certain dark wizard is at large once again. This is a lie."

"It's not a lie! I saw him! I fought him!" Harry shouted.

"Detention! Mr. Potter," Umbridge raised her voice as she walked back to her desk.

"So according to you, Cedric Diggory dropped dead of his own accord." Delaney and Hermione looked at each other with the same shocked eyes.

"Cedric Diggory's death was a tragic accident," Umbridge responded. Delaney could tell by the clench of her jaw that Umbridge was close to snapping.

"It was murder! Voldemort killed him! You must know that-" Harry was cut off.

"Enough!" she shouted. "Enough. See me later Mr. Potter, my office," she giggled. The remainder of the class carried on with a sort of tension lingering in the air. The tension was only relieved when the class was over and everyone began to walk out.

"I can't believe it! Detention...on the first day!" Harry rambled angrily as the four walked out of the classroom and into the corridors.

"Harry, we tried to calm you down but you wouldn't listen," Hermione pointed out.

"Calm down? Calm down?! How am I supposed to calm down when she was calling me a liar and saying that Cedric Diggory wasn't murdered by Voldemort?" Harry began to raise his voice.

"Harry please keep your voice down," Delaney said in a slight whisper, taking note of all the odd stares they were gaining.

"I'm going for a walk," Harry stormed off leaving Ron, Hermione, and Delaney standing in the corridor.

They were silent for a moment before Delaney finally spoke, "Maybe I should have brought the Puking Pastilles like Fred said." Hermione scowled at Delaney before walking away from her and Ron. "Well, what did I do now?"

"Maybe it was a little too soon for the Puking Pastilles joke," Ron shrugged with a sympathetic look on his face.

"All he did was get detention. She's acting like he got expelled," Delaney sighed.

"I'm sure she'll be fine by dinner," Ron offered as the two began walking back towards the common room. Delaney knew he was probably right so she released a deep breath.

"Where's the other two of you?" George asked as Ron and Delaney entered the common room.

"They both stormed off," Delaney sighed, plopping down on the couch next to Fred.

"Why?" Fred asked with raised brows.

"Well, Harry was mad that he got detention and we told him that we tried to calm him down but that made him even madder so he left. Then I made a joke saying maybe I should have listened to you about bringing the Puking Pastilles. That's when we lost Hermione," Delaney shrugged, propping her feet onto Fred's legs.

"You know you should really listen to me more," Fred grinned.

"If I listened to you our lives would be very boring," she laughed, knowing half of the fun they had was because she wasn't afraid to stand her ground.

"You may be right there," he laughed. "But I wouldn't sweat it about Umbridge. It's only the first day. How much worse could it get?"

Fred was right. Delaney couldn't imagine it would get much worse than a few measly detentions.
