"Psst," a whisper sounded. Delaney heard it, but she was reading, and she chose to ignore it.
"Psst, Delaney," the whisper sounded again.
Delaney rolled her eyes, placing her mother's picture on the page she left off on. She looked over to see Fred and George peering around the staircase. "What?"
They both brought their fingers to their mouths, telling her to be quiet without saying anything. They then pointed to Ron sitting in a chair across from her. "What?" she mouthed.
With a huff, Delaney walked over to the twins as they had ushered her over. "What the bloody hell do you two want? I was busy."
"We want your help pranking Ron," George whispered.
A smirk grew on Fred's lips, "That is if you aren't too busy."
Delaney's eyes narrowed at Fred's sarcasm, "I'm in."
"You don't even know what the prank is," George chuckled.
"Yeah, but pranking Ron is always a pleasure," she smirked, looking at Ron sitting unsuspectingly in his chair. "What do I need to do?"
"We have everything ready. We just need you to bait him."
Delaney's brows furrowed, "And how do you expect me to do that?"
"Just run in there and act like something's wrong in his room. Trust me, it'll be worth it," Fred grinned with an amused look in his eyes.
"Fine," Delaney sighed as if it was a daunting task. In reality, she couldn't wait to see what the twins had done.
She took a deep breath as if getting into character before running into the living room, "Ron! Quick, something's wrong upstairs!"
"What?" Ron's eyes grew wide as she shot to his feet.
"Something's wrong with Harry. Apparently, he fell in your room. Hermione can't get him up!" Delaney put every effort into looking like a manic friend.
"Harry!" Ron shouted, scrambling up the stairs.
Delaney sighed, allowing her body to return to its natural state. A grin pulled on her lips as she turned towards the twins. They both looked at her with wide eyes and slacked jaws. It was Fred that spoke first, "Oh you're good."
Delaney bowed, signifying the end of her performance before stalking over toward them. "I told you it's easy messing with Ron."
"Well when you're that good at acting I'm sure," George chuckled.
"Oh please, even if I was the worst at acting, it would still be easy," Delaney chuckled.
By the time Delaney finished her sentence, Ron's bellowed voice carried from two floors above, "Fred! George! I'm going to kill you!"
"That's our queue, come on," Fred chuckled, nudging Delaney towards the door. The three had just barely made it out of the house before Ron caught up to them. Harry and Hermione tailed him.
"What's going on?" Hermione asked.
"What's going on is that they shrunk everything in my room!" Ron shouted.
"Come now, Ron. We settle this like Weasley's," Ginny appeared from the corner of the house, carrying a Quidditch set.
Ron scowled at his brother, drawing a giggle from Delaney who stood at their side. "Fine, you know what to do."
"Alright," Ginny began, placing the Quidditch set on the ground. "Ron, you're one captain since you were the wronged party. Fred, George, which one of you wants to be captain?"
"George can, I was captain last time," Fred nodded.
"Okay, Ron take your first pick and second picks since we know George will pick Fred," Ginny nodded.
"Harry," Ron said almost immediately. That was a given. Everyone knew he would pick Harry. His eyes scanned everyone left, "Delaney."
"What?" she said before she could stop her words. She fully expected him to pick Hermione.
"You were quick to do their bidding, so now I'm pitting you against them. You're on my team, let's go," Ron insisted. Delaney almost laughed at the authoritative voice Ron tried to use. She couldn't deny it was a good strategy though.
George huffed, "Fine, we get Ginny then."
"Perfect, we'll take Hermione."
"Why am I last?" Hermione asked, her eyes narrowed.
"Because I had to make sure they didn't get Delaney," Ron justified. "Besides, we all know you aren't the most skilled at Quidditch."
Hermione huffed, offended at the insinuation. Delaney grinned, whispering to Hermione while the others set up the game, "Don't worry, Hermione, maybe I'll let a bludger slip."
Delaney stood next to Fred as the game was commencing since they would both be beaters. Fred shook his head, grabbing hold of his broom, "You should have been on our team."
"Why?" Delaney asked, letting a smirk grow on her face. "Scared of a little competition?"
Delaney didn't miss the subtle way Fred's jaw slacked before she kicked on and joined the others in the air. Just seconds later, Fred joined them and the game began.
The game went off without a hitch. Delaney had played a few practice games of Quidditch with Harry before but it was nothing like how the Weasley's played. You'd think they were fighting for the Quidditch cup. George's team was up by one point and somehow Fred managed to get the ball. Delaney didn't even have to think about it before she launched the bludger straight toward him. The bludgers the Weasley's played with were softened so they wouldn't cause any serious harm, but if hit hard enough they could knock someone off their broom. Nonetheless, to avoid the hard ball, Fred did a spin on his broom, dropping the quaffle, which Hermione caught and zoomed toward the goal, earning Ron's team a point.
Fred searched the mock field, zeroing in on Delaney with a sharp glare. She merely gave him a smirk, lifting her brows suggestively before resuming her role in the game. The game ended some thirty minutes later when Harry made the last goal, taking Ron's team to twenty-five points. Like the bludgers, the Weasleys didn't play with the snitch, preferring to see which team would be able to score the most points.
"You lot got lucky," Fred challenged through his heavy breaths, pointing to each member of Ron's team.
Delaney rolled her eyes with a smirk, "Oh, just admit it, you're a sore loser. We won fair and square."
"We were up until you sent that bludger towards me," he countered with narrowed eyes.
A chuckle fell from Delaney's lips at the memory of the look on his face. "Don't hate the player, hate the game."
Delaney gave Fred a quick wink before walking back up to the house with Ginny. Just before she entered the Burrow, she turned back to find Fred still frozen in place from their encounter. She offered him a smile when his eyes caught hers before she turned around, ready to celebrate their win with her team.
