"Delaney, wake up!" Hermione's excited voice sounded, jolting Delaney awake.

"What?" Delaney said, annoyed as pulled her pillow over her ears. She hated being woken up.

"It's Christmas!" Hermione said tauntingly.

Delaney sat up quickly, throwing her blanket off of her, "Well why didn't you say something? Let's go!"

Delaney and Hermione ran down to the common room where Fred and George sat on one of the couches with Lee Jordan.

"Someone's excited," Fred laughed.

"It's Christmas obviously," Delaney smiled. "Now where's Ron and Harry?"

"We haven't seen them come down yet," George said, looking back towards the stairs that led to the boy's dormitories.

Delaney and Hermione looked at each other and nodded before they ran up to Ron and Harry's room, "Alright, you two," Delaney said as she slammed the door open. Ron and Harry both jolted from their sleep.

"Have you gone mad?" Ron grumbled, half asleep.

"Ron, I think that's a question you don't want to be answered," Delaney laughed. "Now, come on you two. It's Christmas."

"Ah, there they are," George said as he and Fred suppressed their laughs. Ginny rubbed her eyes next to them. She must have just woken up as well.

"What's so funny?" Ron asked with his little attitude.

"Oh, it's nothing," Fred said snickering. "Did you enjoy your wake-up call? Because we thought it was quite funny."

Ron simply gave them a mocking look before they began opening Christmas gifts. Delaney had received two new jumpers and three new books from Lupin which brought a smile to her cheeks. He bought her one of the muggle books she'd been talking about for ages. She gave Hermione a wizarding world book she'd also been talking about for months, which earned her a tight hug.

Sometime later, the four sat down at the Gryffindor table per usual for a quick Christmas breakfast.

"I swear Hogwarts will never fail to amaze me with their holiday decorations," Delaney smiled, humming satisfaction at the sweet taste of french toast on her tongue. Hogwarts Christmas breakfast would always be one of her favorites.

"Why do you like Christmas so much?" Harry asked.

"Well, every year, before I came to Hogwarts of course, Lupin would wake me up early Christmas morning, before the sun even came up, and then we'd watch the sunrise over the snow. Once that was over he would make breakfast and we would drink hot chocolate before we would open presents. One of my favorite parts of it all was once the day was nearly over, Lupin would sit me by the fire and tell me stories of his adventures with my mother and father. You could see how happy it made him reminisce on the times he spent with them," Delaney smiled, feeling a small twinge of some unknown emotion at the thought of her mother before she forced herself to bury it. It was Christmas, there was no time to be sad over what could have been.

"That sounds sweet," Hermione smiled. Ron and Harry seemed to stay silent. Harry had a melancholy look on his face, but he must have shared the same thought as Delaney because it vanished after a second.

"Yeah, it was," Delaney looked down, twisting her fingers in her hands, "I do miss it though."

"At least you have Lupin here this year right?" Harry asked.

The cheerful mood Delaney had earlier began to return, a smile pulling on her lips," Yeah, I suppose I do. I should go see him later."

The rest of breakfast was spent talking about almost anything imaginable. It was almost as though the four had completely forgotten what had been going on thus far in the year. After breakfast, they made their way back up to the common room where they sat with Ginny and the Weasley twins, warming themselves by the fire. Delaney, of course, helped Fred and George make fun of Ron.
