Angie's POV
"Are you sure Mama's gonna like this?" I ask Mallory as she yanks me towards a candy store.
"Dre's gonna love it!" Mallory responds.
"I meant you taking me out without her consent while she's supposed to know exactly where I am while Mom and Dad visit some friends." I corrected.
Mallory sighed. "Why don't we give her a call."
Andrea picked up on the third ring. "Hey Songbird, I'm almost home from the store! We'll actually have something to eat besides eggs and milk."
"Hi Mama. Mallory came to take me out onto lunch. I locked the door don't worry. Is that okay?"
"Sure hon. Be home soon now, and bring me back some food!"
"Bye Mama." I hung up. "It's okay Mallory."
"Yes!" She grabbed my hand and pulled me through the entrance.
"Welcome to Custom Candy how can I help you?" A girl at the register asked. She has short hair, a lot of it was blue.
"Hi there, I'm here to pick up my order under Mallory Maedke."
"Mallory Maedke?!" The girl sat up and yanked her earbud out. "I'm a big fan. I love musicals." She blushed and looked down.
"It's all good!" Mallory beamed. "It's nice to meet you."
The girl smiled. "I'll be right back with your order. I'm Cat by the way. Cat McLemore."
"Well you obviously know who I am, but this is my little sister Angie Macasaet-Pauly."
Cat smiled and disappeared into the back room. She reappeared with a small box. "I gotta say this one was tough for the candy makers to handle, but I think they turned out okay. You're the girl Andrea Macasaet and Samantha Pauly adopted right?"
I nodded. "Just about a week ago."
Cat smiled knowingly. "I was adopted as well. By Elle McLemore. Us who are adopted by famous people must stick together. Here's my number." She fished a piece of paper out of her pocket and scribbled her phone number on it. "Text me whenever."
Mallory smiled. "You're making friends Angie! That's great! We gotta go, Dre wanted food. Thank you."
"Anytime. Have a nice day!" Cat popped her earbuds in and returned to the book she was reading.
Mallory carefully held the candy box and made her way into a Chick Fil A. She bought a frozen lemonade, and a chicken sandwich. She handed me the lemonade, and grabbed the little bag the sandwich came in, because it was to-go.
"For Dre." She explained.
I sipped my frozen lemonade and nodded.
After a little bit of walking, I unlocked the apartment door. Andrea was sitting on a kitchen stool, and drinking water while scrolling through her Instagram feed.
"Mama we're back!"
"And we brought you a chicken sandwich from Chick Fil A!"
Andrea leaped over the stool, kicking it over in the process, and dove for the sandwich.
Mallory put on a confused look and placed it in her hands.
I sipped my lemonade. "You ready to go, it's time to be at the theatre." I reminded them.
Mallory put on an "Oh no." Face, and quickly said her goodbyes before disappearing with the box of candy.
Andrea set her sandwich down, ran out of the room, and reappeared with her bag all ready to go. "I'm sure Mallory will meet us at the theatre Songbird. Let's go."
I sipped my lemonade, and followed her out the door.
"So are you excited? Dear Evan Hansen tomorrow." Andrea nudged me, as I was silent.
"Is this how you feel everyday?" I finally said.
"How so?"
"The feeling of always having to do something, and be somewhere. And it's worse because you don't have Sundays off." I rambled.
"Well, sometimes it's tough, being an actor. Sometimes your unemployed for a while, and you get worried. But if you love to do something, you should do it." Andrea had stopped walking, leaving us standing on a New York sidewalk with no apparent need to get anywhere.
"Thanks Mama. But you're going to be late."
Andrea grabbed my hand and proceeded to yank me towards the theatre.
We were buzzed in, and then Mallory saw us and yanked us into Samantha and Abby's dressing room.
"Look at what I got!" She pulled the lid off the candy box.
Everyone gasped. Over a piece of parchment paper was six chocolate figures. Each one was modeled after the Broadway versions of the queens. Under the parchment paper was four other figures.
There was Courtney in her Howard costume, Nicole in her Cleves costume, and Mallory in her Seymour costume. And me. Wearing a Six jacket, with a number seven.
"Because, Angie, you're the seventh queen."
