Chapter 35

Location: Manhattan

“Stark?” Steve asked Tony.

“J.A.R.V.I.S.?” Tony tried to communicate with is AI.

“I'm sorry, I was asleep.” The voice of the robot said. “Or I was a – dream."

“Reboot Legionnaire OS.” Tony still tried to talk to J.A.R.V.I.S. “We got a buggy suit.”

“There was this terrible noise.” The robot brought his arm up. “And I was tangled in… In… Strings.” It stumbled back and almost fell.

“Strings?” Kaylin asked. She looked around, but no one heard her.

“I had to kill the other guy. He was a good guy.” The robot told them.

“You killed someone?” Steve asked.

“Wouldn’t have been my first call.” The robot answered. “But, down in the real world, we're faced with ugly choices.”

“Who send you?” Thor questioned.

Tony's voice was being heard, but he didn't speak, “I see a suit of armor around the world.”

“Ultron.” Bruce stated surprised.

“In the flesh.” Ultron responded. “Or, no, not yet. Not this chrysalis. But I'm ready.”

Everyone grabbed the nearest weapon and readied themselves for a fight. Thor grabbed his hammer tighter, Maria checked the bullets in her gun and Kaylin saw an empty bottle.

“I'm on mission.” The robot went on.

“What mission?” Natasha wanted to know.

“Peace in our time.” Ultron told her. Two robots flew out of the wall and started attacking the superheroes.

Steve grabbed the table and used it as shield, but he got knocked over. Kaylin ducked and slide out of the way to miss the blond guy and the table from falling on top of her. Maria started shooting and Thor swung his hammer around.

Kaylin looked around and saw Dr. Cho running. She ran over and told the woman to seek cover. Kaylin looked back to see Rhodey falling through a window. She stood up and almost immediately got knocked down by a robot.

“Son of a-" She didn't got a change to finish when the robot aimed at her and she had to roll away. In the corner of her eye, she saw a robot grabbing the scepter and she knew it wasn't good.

“Hey, Jenny!” Kaylin shouted at the blue and white robot. She walked into Tony's lab. “That's not yours to take!”

She ran towards it and jammed her foot into it's chest. It flew a few feet away and the scepter fell to the ground. Kaylin wanted to pick it up when the robot flew back and shot a blast at her. It hit her in her side and she landed against the wall. The robot grabbed the scepter and flew off.

“Goddammit!” She tried to stand up, but her head was pounding and her side was hurting. When Kaylin did get up, she let out an irritated groan and left Tony's lab.

Kaylin stumbled back in the room and saw Steve flying with his back straight against a wall.

Natasha and Bruce climbed over the bar and were shooting at the robot. They ran up the stairs, trying to miss the blasts the robot fired at them.

Tony ran behind Kaylin and he jumped off the balcony. He landed on the robot and tried to pull of it's head.

Thor threw a robot to the ground and it died.
