Kaylin was laying on her hotel bed. Her alarm went off minutes ago, but she wasn't in the mood for getting up.
Fury wanted a meeting with her and she didn't want to go. She simply didn't want to hear about Fury's theory about HYDRA coming back. Steve had dealt with it during the war and he stopped it.
Eventually, Kaylin got up. She slowly dressed herself and made some breakfast. Well, it's what you call breakfast. It was only a cup of coffee.
She got into her car and drove to work. Being stuck in traffic is never fun, but when you don't even want to be there, you hate it more. The traffic lights were taking forever and the cars moved way too slow for Kaylin's liking.
"If I had a superpower, I would've blasted those cars apart." She muttered and honked a few times in the hope the cars in front of her move faster. Which, of course, didn't happen.

After being stuck in traffic for fifteen minutes, she finally arrived at work. Kaylin parked her car all the way in the back. That was the closest to the entrance. She showed her badge and made her way to Fury's office.
"You've been going in there a lot." Agent May said as Kaylin passed her in the hallway.
"Well, Fury has some crazy theories and he needs to share them with someone." Kaylin replied and took a breath before she knocked on the door.
"Come in." Fury said and Kaylin walked in. She saw Fury standing behind his desk and two more people sitting in front of it. One being Agent Hill and the other being Agent Gregory.
"Agent Thomas, take a seat." Fury said and he pointed at the only empty chair left.
She did what was asked of her and put her bag down next to her on the floor. "What is this about?" Kaylin asked and she looked at all the three characters in the room.
"I wanted to talk about your girlfriend." Fury said.
"For the record, I don't even know what we are at this moment." Kaylin added and she looked at her hands. Steve suggested she talked to Kinsley, but she hadn't found the nerve to do so.
"Okay," Fury said, "let's start at the beginning."
The whole meeting lasted longer than an hour and the only thing they talked about was the sudden change in Kinsley's behavior. Kaylin explained that she was more closed off on which Gregory responded with 'maybe she's hiding something'. As if she hadn't figured that out.
The six months they've been apart, Kaylin did nothing then keep an eye on her former girlfriend. She wanted to know what happened, but Kinsley was good. She knew how to cover her tracks and make it impossible to find anything on her.
"We'll go on another day." Fury said and Gregory was the first to leave the room.
Kaylin grabbed her bag and started to walk out, too.
"Agent Thomas," Fury said, "I was wondering if you had contact with one of the Avengers."
"Only Steve, sir." Kaylin responded. She and Steve sparred together for some time and he asked her about things he doesn't know. He even started a list — finally — to write down on which he needs to catch up. Kaylin had said to make a list when they first met, but he declined then. Now he sees his mistake.
"Okay." Fury said and waved her away. She walked to the exit to go home again.
She had nothing to do anymore. Fury was following Kinsley; Steve was busy in the gym and her reports were done.
