The next morning, Mia had caught up on what happened when the door opened the previous day. Maria had told her how she had wanted to fight Nicole and how the brunette had to knock her out.
"You were starting an earthquake, too, and that's uncommon in this country." Maria had said. "We're in the east and -- if earthquakes do happen -- they happen north."
"I am so sorry." Mia held her head in her hands. "I don't know what happened. One second, I was ringing the door bell. The next, I wake up on a couch."
"Hey," the brunette took Mia her hands, "you're alright now. When we finish up here, we'll talk to T'Challa."
The redhead nodded and got up from the bed. She got dressed and was ready to talk to her cousin -- once removed.
The pair made their way back to the house of the Van Dijks and rang the bell, again. This time, however, Mia didn't lose the fight with her brain and she actually got to speak to the woman.
"Welcome back." Nicole smiled as she let the two in. "Tim is at work, but we can continue. I've been practicing my English last night."
"If it helps, I've tried to learn a few Dutch words." Mia told the blond. "It's just... hard."
"I know." Nicole chuckled. "I'm still struggling, too, and I grew up with it."
The three women shared a laugh at the joke and went to sit on the kitchen table. Nicole had put something to eat and drink on it so they had something to do while talking.
"I understand that-- my father was the son... of your aunt?" Nicole asked, just to get the story straight.
"Yes." Mia nodded. "I never even knew about my mother's side of the family until I visited Auschwitz."
"Ah..." the blonde nodded while sipping from her coffee. "That's a dark part of history. I'm glad it's over."
"You must hear Steve about that." Maria joked.
Nicole was lost. "Steve?"
"Steve Rogers." Maria clarified. "Captain America. He fought in World War Two."
"Oh, yeah." The blonde put down her cup. "Is it true that... how do I say this..."
"Dutch is fine. I can translate." Maria told her.
"Bestaan de Avengers nog?" Nicole asked.
"She asks if the Avengers still exist." The brunette translated for Mia.
"They do." The redhead said. "They just... aren't together anymore. But, if something happens, I bet my life they will fight."
The three drank their liquid while keeping small talk about the Avengers and their family. Mia learned that Nicole's dad wasn't always around. When he got to the Netherlands, he had trouble finding work. And when he did, he suddenly had a child that needed love, too.
"I loved him very much and when he passed... I was lucky that Tim was there." Nicole said with a hint of sadness in her voice.
"I'm sorry." Mia placed her hand on the woman's arm. "It's never easy when you lose a parent, or guardian."
