Chapter 38

Location: South Korea

Mia sat in the back of the Quinjet. She was listening to Steve and his plan to safe dr. Cho from Ultron.

"What if he already began the evolving?" She questioned. "Wouldn't it be safer to destroy the android?"

"But to do that we need to get it first." Natasha answered.

"Okay, you two get the android he's building while Mia and I find the main source." Steve said and the jet landed.

"I already hear people." Mia grabbed her head. She still wasn't used to it. "I miss the days I was teaching and didn't know about this." She muttered.

"Maybe after we're done, you can go back." Clint told her and she shrugged. She knew that she couldn't leave this behind like it never happened. It would always find a way back to her.

A few seconds later, Mia and Steve left the Quinjet and climbed on top of a building that overlooked the lab. They walked to the edge and looked over the city.

"Two minutes, stay close." Steve told the two Avengers in the Quinjet over the comms. He jumped off of the building and rolled over the ground.

"Look, I know that pain isn't for me, but I won't hurt myself on purpose because you can jump from this high." Mia told him.

"Just find a staircase and come to the lab." Steve said back. Mia did so and ran onto the street. She joined Steve and together they managed to sprint to the lab.

Inside were the lights broken and multiple people lay on the ground. Mia checked for a pulse but found none.

"Steve, if they're dead, where's Cho?" Mia asked and Steve ran further.

"Dr. Cho?!" He shouted and found her on the ground. She was still moving, but she was bleeding heavily.

"He's uploading himself into the body." Dr. Cho told them.

"Where?" Steve asked. He looked behind him, but there was nothing.

"The real power is inside the Cradle." Dr. Cho said. "The gem, its power is uncontainable. You can't just blow it up. You have to get the Cradle to Stark."

"First, we need to find it." Mia spoke up.

"Go." Dr. Cho let go of Steve. He shared a look with Mia and she nodded. They knew they would part ways.

"Did you guys copy that?" Steve asked the team over the comms. He ran out but Mia stayed behind. She wanted to find the twins.

"We did." Clint said back.

"I got a private jet taking off across town." Natasha came through. "No manifest. That could be him."

"There." Clint replied. "It's a truck from the lab. Right above you, Cap. On the loop by the bridge. It's them. You got three with the Cradle, one in the cab. I could take out the driver."

"Negative," Steve shouted over the comms, "that truck crashes, the gem could level the city. We need to draw out Ultron."

Mia decided to take her earpiece out so she could focus on finding the two teens. She placed the piece in her pocket and ran through the building. She looked everywhere, but she couldn't even hear their thoughts.

"On the streets it is."

Mia ran out and tried to find her way through the crowds that were forming.
