Royal Palace
Location: WakandaIt's been a few weeks since the whole Aida showdown. Things have calmed down, but, ever since Maria and Mia separated from the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to dine on their own, they hadn't heard from them. Even now, with Mia leaving tons of voice-mails and text messages, none picked up and let them know if everything was okay.
The dream of having her family with her on her wedding day, broken into a thousand tiny pieces.
"You did everything you could." Maria empathized. She tried to let her parents fly over, but they never responded to her messages. And the one call that did get through, they hung up once the 'W'-word was said.
Needless to say that they would have this wedding on their own. The broken-up Avengers weren't an option, because that would start another civil war within the group of misfits.
"You're right." Mia declared. "We have T'Challa and Barnes. We have our witness and we have someone to officiate."
"Exactly." The brunette smiled. "But we still need to inform them."
The other woman rolled her eyes and stood up. "Then let's get out of this room and find the King." She said and was the first to walk out.
"Thank you, T'Challa, for doing this." Mia said to the King of Wakanda.
"It's my honor to marry the two of you." He smiled. "You wanted Sergeant Barnes to be your witness?"
"Yes." Maria nodded. "We wanted more, but we can't reach them somehow."
"Well, they had to give themselves to the government for those LMDs." The redhead shrugged. "Maybe something happened."
Her fiancée took her hand and gave it a squeeze. Maria knew that Mia was just telling herself that so she wouldn't worry. So she wouldn't go out and look for them herself.
"Oh, I almost forgot!" Mia exclaimed suddenly. "I have a cousin in the Netherlands. I have promised her she would be invited. Can you arrange for her to get here?"
"I can do my best." T'Challa told her.
"Brother!" A voice came from behind them. The trio turned around to see Princess Shuri run up to them. "You're gonna do a wedding and not invite me?"
"Shuri... They asked for Barnes and me." T'Challa told his sister.
"It's all right," Mia smiled at the princess. "You can come if you want."
Shuri followed them outside to where the tents were and she went up front to Bucky Barnes' tent.
"Bucky?" Shuri asked as she waited outside.
The tent opened and a man with long, dark brown hair stepped out. He had a shawl around his left shoulder, and a friendly smile on his face.
"Mia Jarvis and Maria Hill." He acknowledged the two women. "Was that your names?"
"Yes, it is." Mia told him. "We're here to ask you something."
"Nothing about the past." Maria added as she saw Barnes' face turn sour. "You see, we want to get married and need a witness."
The man his eyes widened a bit as he registered the words and their meaning. "You want me as your witness?"
The two nodded. "We do." Mia smiled, kindly. "Do you want to be our witness, Sergeant Barnes?"
Barnes' let his eyes travel from Mia, to Maria, to Shuri, to T'Challa, and back to Mia.
"Yes." He said. "When do you need me?"
