Hospital
Location: Los AngelesKaylin was watching the security cameras of her old apartment. She missed Kinsley but she knew that it couldn't work out anymore. Too much time had passed were none of them reached out to one another. Still she had hope.
Kaylin saw her ex-girlfriend leave the building and get into her car. She tracked the vehicle but once it entered a tunnel, she lost it.
"Knock, knock." A deep voice at the doorway said. Kaylin looked up and saw a brown man with a S.H.I.E.L.D. file standing there.
"Hey, Doctor Garner." Kaylin said, surprised to see the psychologist. "What are you doing here?"
"I understood that I needed to come her to talk to you." Dr. Garner replied. He stepped inside the room and went to stand in front of Kaylin's bed.
"Who told you that?" Kaylin had her theories; one of them being agent Hill.
"I got a mail." Is all Dr. Garner said. Kaylin nodded and looked at her phone again. The program she started to find Kinsley couldn't find a match. She was gone.
"It was Maria, wasn't it?" Kaylin asked with a sigh.
"I'm not telling you." Dr. Garner said. "May I sit?" He pointed at the chair to the left from Kaylin. She nodded and Dr. Garner took a seat.
He pulled out a pen from his chest pocket and wrote something down on a piece of paper.
"What do you want to know?" Kaylin asked and she moved a bit so she could look at the man next to her.
"How are you?" Was his first question.
"I'm great." Kaylin answered. "Thanks for asking." Dr. Garner saw straight through her. He knew she wasn't great.
"And now without sarcasm." He told her. Kaylin hesitated. How was she? Was she good?
"I'm," she began, "I'm... managing." She finished. Dr. Garner wrote something down, again.
"Are you willing to tell me what happened?" He asked after he was done writing.
"Which do you want to hear?" She asked with a small smile. She felt quite awkward.
"The one your colleagues are worried for you about." Dr. Garner replied. Kaylin immediately knew what he was referring to and she also knew who told him.
"You spoke to May." Kaylin said. Her whole attitude changed to a darker one. She looked sad and a bit angry.
"What's going on?" Dr. Garner asked. "I heard you're living in a hotel now?"
"Yeah," Kaylin muttered. She genuinely didn't want to talk about it.
“How did that came to terms?” He looked at Kaylin with concern in his eyes. He remembered the sessions they had when she first joint S.H.I.E.L.D. and the numerous times she didn't speak at all during those.
“Andrew,” Kaylin said, “I don't want to talk about it. Kinsley and I had a fight and now we don't speak. That's it.” Kaylin didn't want to think about it. Yes, she could’ve reached out, but she didn't know how without telling anything about her job.
“Kaylin, I'm here to help. And given that there are so many people who care about you, I think you appreciate it to let it all out for once. If not with me, with someone who’s a bit closer to you.” Dr. Garner said and he closed the file he brought with him. He knew she wouldn’t tell him anything, not this time. He did hear her say something about a fight, which Dr. Garner knew was something that was rare in their relationship.
