S.H.I.E.L.D. Dam facility
Location: Classified

Fury had asked Mia to retreat to the Dam and wait for him as he tried to get away safely. He told her Maria was coming too, but since she was in New York, it might take a while.

She was now waiting, alone, with no service and completely in the dark. All she could hear was water floating against the dam and through the pipes.

To kill time, she was practicing her fight skills against the one punching bag in the small facility. Mia was fighting against it for an hour until she wanted some fresh air.

Mia grabbed her phone and a water bottle before heading out to look over the water outside. She heard the birds and water and really felt calm. A calm she needed.

Her moment, however, was disturbed by her phone. Maria Hill was calling her.

"'Sup, Maria?" Mia asked when she picked up.

"I need you to come to the hospital. Fury has been shot." Maria informed her.

"What, how?!"

"He was on his way to the Dam when they tried to kill him. He escaped and went to Steve's. There he was shot again, but this time it was fatal." Maria explained.

"Please, tell me he had the Tetrodotoxin B from Banner." Mia ran back to the entrance of the facility.

"Yeah, but you should come. Steve and Nat don't know and I think it's best they don't." Maria hung up and Mia quickly grabbed her belongings before going back to her car. She wasn't even in the facility for that long and now Fury was almost dead.

Hospital
Location: Washington DC

Mia came running in to see Natasha Romanoff, Steve Rogers and Maria Hill standing in a waiting room. Watching how the doctors operated on Nick Fury. Behind them were agents Rumlow and Sitwell.

"What did I-" Mia began but then she saw the doctors inside running. She knew it was bad and so did the others. Everyone stepped closer to the window and just watched. They couldn't do anything but that.

Although Mia knew Fury faked it with medicine, it was still hard to watch the man who gave her a job, a purpose, die in front of her.

Tears started welling up and Maria saw it. She grabbed Mia's hand clenched her jaw. They knew it was fake, that Fury will live, but it's never easy.

The man they all listened to - well, most of the time - stopped breathing.

Mia let go of her commander's hand and walked out of the room. It was getting too tense in there and she needed air. Maria followed her to the hallway and looked at her.

"We'll take him." She said. "Doctor Fine is coming too." Mia just nodded while she wiped her tears away. Maria pulled her in for a hug and they stayed that way for a few minutes.

The doctor came out behind them and cought. "Sorry, ladies, they can see him now." He said and walked away again.

"I'll go tell them. Make preparations." Mia told Maria and walked back inside the room. Natasha was crying and Steve had a sad look on his face.

"Hey, Mia." Steve said once he saw her and she smiled back.

"We can see him now." She told them. "The doctors laid him in the next room." Natasha was the first one who walked away. Steve was searching Mia's face.

"You okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, yeah." She sight. "It's just... a weird day. Fury's death was the tip of the iceberg, I think."
