Kaylin opened the door of her apartment and stepped inside. The first thing she did was put her jacket on the coat hanger and jump on the couch. She lied down and closed her eyes.
Finally, home.
"You're back!" Kaylin her girlfriend, Kinsley, exclaimed. She walked over to the couch to see Kaylin lying with closed eyes. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, just tired," Kaylin responded as she opened her eyes. She sat back up and Kinsley searched her face.
"I can see that," Kinsley said.
"What have you been up to since my absence?" Kaylin wondered.
"Well, you were gone for three days, so I had the chance to clean the apartment," Her girlfriend said. Kaylin gave her a kiss.
"Where would I be without you?" she smiled.
"Probably nowhere," Kinsley replied with an even so big smile. "You hungry?"
"I'm starving. What've you got?" Kaylin followed Kinsley to the kitchen and saw a pan on the stove. Her stomach began to growl and she remembered the agent who sat on her sandwich. Her face muscles contract for a brief moment.
"I was making a stew," Kinsley said and she stirred the stew.
"It smells delicious. I'm going to clean up." Kaylin gave her girlfriend another kiss and walked over to the bathroom. There, she took her clothes and contacts off and stepped under the shower.
The warm rays of the shower made her forget about the mission for a moment. They made her forget about the past events and she welcomed that. Everything so she wouldn't think about those events was welcome.
"Did you fall asleep in there?" Kinsley asked and Kaylin sighed.
"Not yet," she responded.
"Great, dinner is ready."
"Coming." Kaylin turned off the shower and dried herself. She found some clothes in a nearby closet and put them on. She almost forgot her contacts.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Kinsley asked when Kaylin sat down.
"My work is killing me slowly, but I'm fine." Kaylin shoveled her fork in her mouth and started eating.
"I had no idea that a secretary has to do so much. You were gone for three days."
"Well, if your boss decides to go somewhere else in the middle of the day, you have to comply," Kaylin said. She desperately wanted Kinsley to know about SHIELD, but that wasn't an option. At least, not yet.
"Some bosses. . ." Kinsley muttered, making Kaylin chuckle.
"Tell me, something special happened at your work?" Kaylin asked.
Kinsley worked as a service agent at a phone company Upstate New York and usually had many funny tales about some customers.
"I have no job anymore," her girlfriend said solemnly.
Kaylin looked at her confused. "Wait, what? How?" she wondered.
"Have you heard what happened in the city?" Kinsley asked.
"Vaguely," Kaylin said, although she knows exactly what happened. She was partly responsible for all of it.
"Yeah, well, these so-called 'Avengers' have demolished the building. Now I need to search for a new job," Kinsley explained.
"And they don't have another facility?"
"Not where they have a place, no," Kinsley sighed deeply.
"I can help you look for something," Kaylin proposed.
