Avengers Compound
Location: Upstate New YorkBruce had explained everything concerning Thanos to his team. He explained the ernst of the situation, but a lot were still having questions. Maria, even, went to find Nick Fury to explain him everything.
"So, we gotta assume they're coming back, right?" Rhodey asked.
"And they can clearly find us." Wanda added.
"We need all hands on deck. Where's Clint?" Bruce wondered.
Natasha spoke up. "After the whole Accords situation, he and Scott took a deal. It was too tough on their families. They're on house arrest."
"Who's Scott?"
"Ant-Man." Steve answered the scientist.
"There's an Ant-Man and a Spider-Man?" Bruce asked in shock.
"Yup." Mia breathed as she spun her chair.
"Okay, look." Bruce cast aside the shock to address the nearing fight. "Thanos has the biggest army in the universe, and he is not gonna stop until he gets... Vision's stone."
Every eye traveled to the android who was still in pain from his encounter with some of the 'Children of Thanos'.
"Then we have to protect it." Natasha stated.
"No, we have to destroy it." Vision spoke against her.
"No." Mia immediately shut him down.
"I've been giving a good deal of thought to this entity in my head." Vision pointed to his head. "About its nature. But also its composition." He turned to Wanda. "I think if it were exposed to a sufficiently powerful energy source... something very similar to its own signature, perhaps... its molecular integrity could fail."
"Yeah, and you with it." Wanda told him. "We're not having this conversation."
"Eliminating the stone is the only way to be certain that Thanos can't get it." Vision said.
Wanda shook her head. "That's too high a price."
Vision placed his hands on Wanda's cheeks. "Only you have the power to pay it."
The redhead walked away after that. She was too broken to even stand to listen.
"Viz, we're not destroying you because you have that thing in your head." Mia cut in. "There has to be another way to get it out of that guy's hands."
"Thanos threatens half the universe." Vision turned to the woman he concidered a mother-in-law. "One life cannot stand in the way of defeating him."
"But it should." Steve said. "We don't trade lives, Vision."
"Captain, 70 years ago, you laid down your life to save how many millions of people?" The android walked over to the blond. "Tell me, why is this any different?"
"Because, you might have a choice." Bruce cut in. "Your mind is made up of a complex construct of overlays. Jarvis, Ultron, Tony, me, the stone. All of them mixed together, all of them learning from one another."
"You're saying Vision isn't just the stone?" Wanda questioned.
The scientist turned to her. "I'm saying that, if we take out the stone, there's still a whole lot of Vision left. Perhaps the best parts."
"Can we do that?" Natasha asked.
"Not me, not here." Bruce answered with a shake of his head.
"Well, you better find someone and somewhere fast." Rhodey spoke up. "Ross isn't just gonna let you guys have your old rooms back."
