Chapter 48

Whilst the Avengers were on their mission in Lagos, Nigeria, Mia was tasked to stay behind and keep an eye out for anything new. It was also a wonderful opportunity for her to continue her search on Spider-Man.

Mia felt sorry for Steve. She thought the hit in Lagos was from the missing person's case, but it turned out to be Rumlow.

Rumlow was being a real pain in the ass for all of them and she just wanted to find the man and bring him in.

That Hydra wasn't gone yet, was a thing everyone knew, but, they silently pleaded, wouldn’t become a problem.

That Mia was important for the organization was generally known and that's the reason the Avengers keep an extra eye out. They didn't want another kidnapping.

Mia was still running her programs and started a conversation with one of the staff members that was on a break from their work. The building was full of people, but not many wanted to socialize or stay in the canteen during their break.

“What about Tahiti?” The blond male asked Mia with a smile. “I heard it was nice.”

“Yeah, no.” Mia answered. “I'm never setting a foot in Tahiti.”

“Oh, well…” He thought about another place Mia and Maria could go on holiday to. “Maybe somewhere in Europe?”

“Hmm…” That didn't sound crazy for the red head. “My mother was Hungarian. I love to see the country someday.”

“Take Maria there!” The male smiled. “I bet it'll be amazing.”

“Take me where?” A voice came from the doorway. Maria was walking in and grabbed a sandwich before taking a seat next to her girlfriend.

“Collins and I were discussing places to go to on a holiday.” Mia explained with a smile. “We all had a rough couple of years and maybe a break is good.”

“Okay…” Maria took a bite. “Where would you like to go?”

“Hungary.” Mia answered.

“Where your mother came from?” Maria thought about it for a second. “Sounds fun.”

“See! I told you she would like it.” Collins enthusiastically said. “My break is over, I'm afraid. Good look on your work!”

“You, too, Collins!” Mia waved at him and waited for him to be gone for she turned to the brunette next to her. She kissed the woman for she spoke again, “We do need a break, though.”

“I couldn't agree more.” Maria smiled after the kiss. “But they need us. You know they don't have the time to do everything alone. Besides, when do you want to go?”

“When they come back, we can discuss the vacation days.” Mia said and turned back to her laptop.

The program for the search for Spider-Man was doing far better than the one for James Barnes. A new video had popped up on YouTube in the morning, showing that the kid in blue and red stopped a car from crashing into a bus. The IP-address was from Midtown, New York. That meant that the searching era was much smaller than Mia first thought.

She had brought up the list of students in Midtown High and compared them to the list of citizens in New York. It was a lot to search, but she trusted the programs.
