Katsuki is the prince of the sun
Izuku is the prince of the moon
They are brothers - Twins

Katsuki is the older one.
He is loved by the people of his kingdom, they adore and praise him and trust him wholeheartedly

Izuku is the younger one, barely anyone knows he exists, those that do either fear him, believing him to be a monstrous tyrant, or in the case of a single individual, understand what he goes through.
------

Izuku and Katsuki used to be very close when they were young, but then their parents died and Katsuki was set to take the throne early.

They still got along with this revelation, if anything they were excited about it, but that was before their powers set in.

As time went on and they got older, though, Katsuki began to dislike his brother. There wasn't a set reason for it, the younger boy just... irked him

After their powers set in at the age of sixteen, Katsuki had Izuku locked away at all times, only letting him out when it was time for the sun to set and the moon to rise.

Their powers relied on them being directly visible to the sky, meaning if one was out, the other couldn't be, if they were it would cause an eclipse.

That happened many times when their powers were first displayed, and it greatly annoyed Katsuki. His brother had no right to take his spot during the day.

Izuku only wanted to spend time with his brother.
----

Izuku was locked up until it was time for him to take the sky.

There was only one person permitted to be in Izuku's presence, decided by Katsuki himself.

Hitoshi Shinsou, the least desirable guard out of everyone in the kingdom, according to the solar king.

He was sarcastic, mean, and bitter at times, as well as easily annoyed - making him an unpleasant person to be around. According to the others in Katsuki's guard anyway.

Izuku tried to make friends with him at first, but his guard would only get irritated at him or ignore him, so he stopped trying.

Over time the lack of social interaction took a toll on Izuku, one which Hitoshi didn't notice until it was almost too late.

Izuku began to talk to himself and have hallucinations. He stopped eating and couldn't sleep. His emotions ran wild between extreme bubbly joy, that was borderline psychotic, to deep sorrow that caused him to cry silently as to not alert his guard, not that he would care anyway.

Eventually, things came to a head when Izuku neglected to raise the moon for one night, Hitoshi didn't think anything of it, it's not like it mattered considering no one even saw the thing, due to a curfew set by Katsuki.

But it happened again

And again

It kept happening for almost a week before Hitoshi decided to confront the younger prince.

He should've been paying more attention to the silver-haired royal.

His prince lay in his bed, star-covered cheeks tear stained, green orbs wet, red, and puffy.

But the worst of it was how underweight he was, he was almost nothing but a skeleton at this point, eyes that were once full of life now empty, devoid of meaning.

It hurt Hitoshi to see him like this, he had failed. He assumed the lunar prince would've been fine, which is why he didn't pay much attention to him, but he was wrong.

After that Hitoshi became more attentive towards his prince, making sure he ate, slept, did any hobbies, and actually talked to the silver-haired boy, eventually learning that his name was Izuku and the reason for him being locked away.

Hitoshi eventually has enough of Izuku suffering like this and thinking it's normal, so he kidnaps the lunar prince. If Hitoshi is ever found by the kingdom he just betrayed, he'll be excecuted.
