Chapter Forty-One: With A Fizzle And Bang
I pulled my tight dress a little further down my thighs, twisting my hair around my hands, splitting it and place the half's over each of my shoulder. I puckered my lips once, happy with the deep red lipstick. I smiled, not denying myself of thinking that I looked pretty hot that night. I waltz out of the bedroom, picking up my bag as I went and knocked on the bathroom door.
"Vic hurry up!" I yelled, getting a mere 'in a minute'. That moment he is technically breaking a cliche, but the guy being later is becoming a new cliche, so he is being cliche, whilst breaking a cliche, so I'm confusing myself. I shook my head, before walking off down the hall. Mike, Tony and Jaime all say in the lounge. Mike was slouching on the couch, engrossed at whatever New Years celebration show was on the T.V, whilst Tony was also watching, but he looked mildly ball. Jaime was checking his phone. Tony looked up giving me a small smile.
"You look nice, Cat." I smiled, a tiny blush on my cheeks. I did a little curtsy.
"Why thank you." Mike then looked up and whistled.
"Phew, Cactus. Y'know, I kinda wish you weren't dating my brother cause I would so be all over that." I placed a hand on my hip, using the other to gesture at Tony.
"You should've leaned from Tony how to really compliment a lady." Mile rolled his eyes, an easy smile on his face.
"But am I not saying an honest opinion." I glared a little at him. Tony looked proud that I had mentioned him doing the right thing. Mike then waved a hand at me.
"I'm kidding, sort of, but nah, you look beautiful." A huge smile spread on my face.
"There you go." I sarcastically clapped him. He bowed a little. He then looked at me again.
"I'm totally gonna ruin it, but I would seriously have a slice."
"Your brother bet you to it. I know too well." Jaime was now staring at a wall vaguely, as I groaned.
"Are you going to bring that up every time?" I whined, walking over and sitting on the couch next to Mike. Jaime then looked at me, pretending to look scared.
"Most likely." I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms and leaning into the couch. We were watching some news coverage of people partying on the streets, getting all prepared for 2007 to roll in. Vic appeared a little later, with us all teasing him, calling him princess. After, with Vic having a grumpy expression on his face, Tony grasped the keys, throwing them in the air and catching them again. He was the designated driver of the night. Technically, I'm a plus one to the party we were heading to. The boys were the ones invited, but me being Vic's girlfriend, I managed to be able to ride along. From what I heard, the place was just on the beach, meaning they may start up a bonfire. I was actually really excited. There was also something about New Years that gets me all jittery. Maybe it's the idea that I have no idea what could happen in the next year. As scary as it was, it was rather enthralling to not know what the future held for you. I guess I did know one thing, and that was I was going to be living with Vic over the next year, which is going to be spectacular. But apart from that, it's like a whole empty slate, just waiting to be filled with new memories for the year.
We pulled up, and you could already hear the beat pulsing, and people laughing and an endless stream of chatter, where you couldn't make out a certain voice. Sometimes I find I'm often the person that is silent and watches the chatter happen, then a part of me wonders what it would look like when my voice is mixed in, and who is the person that is silently observing everyone including me. We all got out, Vic generously helping me out of the car, and looping his arm through mine. He learned down, his lips to my ear.
