Chapter Fourteen: Coming To My Senses.

"Grandpa sounds so cool." Anna gushed, her brown eyes wide as she listened. I felt my lips twitch.

"He would have loved you." I spoke in a quiet voice. Anna frowned.

"Did he know about me? Like was he around when you got pregnant?"

"Hey, hey. Wait till the rest of the story and you'll find out." I giggled, poking her side. She pouting.

"No need to sound condescending." She muttered darkly.

"Big words."

"You're being more patronising." I dug my fingers into her side, causing her to squeal out of surprise. I always remember her most ticklish spot, because it was mine too. I continued tickling her, as she kicked out, screaming.

"Stop, stop. I'm gonna pee myself." I stopped, laughing at her. Sometimes I forget how old she is now, and still see her as my little baby girl. When she had leukaemia and lost her hair, I swear it had grown back curlier. It now sat in ringlets, that bounced whenever she shook her head. She had wiped her face with her sweater sleeve as I spoke, her skin now clear of black smudges.

"Mom, where's dad?" Naomi, my second daughter asked, leaning against Anna's door frame.

"He's at Mike's, he helping with Braidan guitar lessons." Her mouthed popped into an 'o' shape. She suddenly took notice of Anna, lying half way down the bed, her head hanging off. I think she must have realised Anna's red eyes.

"Annie, you ok?" She questioned. When Naomi was younger, she used to call Anna, Annie. It had stuck ever since. Naomi was 11 this year, she was brought into the world one year after Anna had gotten over her sickness. The most surprising thing was that it was actually Vic's idea to have her. It had crossed my mind, especially after Anna was asking about it when she was in hospital, but I never said anything. One day Vic just decides to tell me he wants another kid, and I nearly fell off my chair. We hadn't even gotten engaged yet. I think we did know that we weren't going to leave each other, but still. At least Naomi was planned. I don't know how Vic felt about having another girl, secretly I think he loved having two girls, but I think he was relieved when the boys came. Yes, I have twin boys too, Jamison and Michael. They were currently at my moms place. They had a big bond with their grandma. Surprisingly, everyone thought they were going to be little brats, causing havoc, but it's Naomi you have to watch.

"Yeah, I'm ok now Nay." Anna smiled, sitting up. Anna adore her little sister, no matter how annoying she got. Anna had already promised to help me with her during the teenage years. Considering how rebellious Naomi already is, Anna said she's gonna be a handful through puberty. She patted the bed in between us.

"Come sit, moms telling me how her and dad met." Naomi brightened up, literally jumping on the bed between us. She snuggled under the crook of my arm, looking up at me with green eyes that mirrored mine. Everyone tells me Naomi was a spitting image of me. I actually have to agree. Same skin, same eyes, same hair. Anna and the boys were Vic all over.

"I'm not starting again, so let Anna recap for you." I said, playing with a strand of Naomi's wavy dark hair.

"Ok, mom met dad in a park, they have slowly become best friends, and mom is stuck in a debate if she wants to date him or not." It sounds like a sort of sitcom, drama thing when you say it like that. I like how she left out the fact Vic was drunk when I met him. I guess my eleven year old didn't need to know that. Not yet.

"Ok, so. Hmmm, what happened next."

"So you slept in bed together but there was no hanky-panky?" Isabelle asked in disbelieve as she sat at the end of my bed. Her thin frame had perfect posture, even in her sitting position. I swear she was even skinnier then last time I saw her. I pushed away the question.
