Chapter Five: Fate Made A Funny.

"Oh. Uh, hi Catherine." Vic cleared his throat, looking down nervously. Mike did a double take.

"Oh, your the chick who rejected my brother at Starbucks. Understandable, you're so out of his league." I felt my cheeks flare up as my own eyes darted to my feet, my hands twirled together over my book. The Hi-me dude seemed to register something.

"So your the girl who saved him. He seriously won't shut up about you." I opened my mouth to say something but couldn't reply and blushed deeper. I hated having this much attention right now. It was creepy and confronting. Especially considering they're four strangers that seem to think they know me. I kind of met eyes with the Tony guy, he was giving me a sympathetic look. My eyes moved back to the tan boy. He was nibbling on his lips, and nervously brushed some of his dead straight hair from his eyes.

"Sorry, they can be pains sometimes." He murmured. I softly laughed but felt awkward. You're really funny fate. Why this boy? Why him?

"They seem fun."

"Oh honey, were a lot more then that." Hi-me said, winking at me. Vic looked murderous.

"Well, that's Hi-me."

"For the record, it is spelt J-A-I-M-E. People get it wrong a lot, it's Spanish." I nodded my head.

"Thanks for cleaning that up." He gave me a huge smile, his dimples indenting his cheeks.

"You've obviously half met Mike, and this is Tony." Mike tilted his head at me, and Tony gave me a small wave. Vic's eyes flashed to mine. They're the type of brown that reminds me of coffee on a winters day, or your favourite chocolate while your curled up watching your favourite movie. They felt warm and look welcoming. I remember what I said at Starbucks.

"I tell you what, just so, a). You can rub it in your brother face. B). I kinda promised you and c) because I decided that there may be no avoiding you, considering this is the third time this past week." I took a deep breath from my rant before giving him a shy smile.

"Are you still up for taking my number?" Mike raised a surprised eyebrow and Vic looked a bit stunned. I couldn't help but feel doubt stroll through me. What if I was just another girl that passed by. He seemed like the kinda guy that would have a line of them. Yet, he didn't seem like the type that would play any of them.

"If he doesn't I will." Vic shot a dirty look at Jaime, who held his hands up in surrender. He sighed and gave me a tiny smile.

"Yeah, if that's alright." He scratched the back of his neck. His slight shyness made me smile. I held my hand out.

"I may need your phone."

"Oh." He fumbled in the back pocket of his ripped jeans. He pulled out a simple, cellphone and placed it into my hand. I flipped it open typing in my number.

"Nice to see your getting over Veronica." I hear someone murmured, obviously trying to make sure I didn't hear. My eyes flicked off the screen to see Tony was now beside Vic. Vic gave Tony a slightly pained and weary look.

"I need to get her out of my mind one way or another." He whispered back. It was clearly none of my business. I smiled and held the phone out.

"Just text my phone saying it's you and I'll add your contact." He turned away from Tony, a tight smile on his face.

"Sure thing." He reached down scooping up his skateboard. I heard the front door open. I heard the voice that made me cringe.

"Why are their random strangers on your front lawn." I turned to see Amelia strutting down the stairs with Ryan behind her. He caught my eyes, the first look was a 'you're so dead later' look. The second one was a 'be nice' one. I couldn't help but feel my lips curl ever so slightly.
