Chapter Twenty-Three: Band Practise.
"Maybe you need to add something different. Something that is unexpected, but with a twist of you in it." I said, throwing a piece of popcorn in the air and catching it in my mouth.
"Yeah, but we don't want to change our sound that much. We aren't even signed yet, so why not stick to us, and then go crazy." Jaime said, stuffing his own handful of popcorn in his mouth. Vic chewed at the bottom of his pen, staring at a few line of lyrics he had written down. I ate some more popcorn.
"Yeah, I know. Keep you in it, but add something more." I made hand gestures as I lay on my back, facing the ceiling. Me, Vic and Jaime were lounging around in their house, trying to figure out sounds that can go with Vic's lyrics. Vic started to tap his pen on the end of his notepad, his guitar laying next to him.
"I do see where you are coming from. Like do something different, but don't loose our original sound." Vic swirled the pen in the air he spoke. I pointed at Jaime.
"See, Vic gets it." Jaime rolled his eyes at me, throwing popcorn at my face. I picked it off my shoulder, eating it before sticking my tongue out at Jaime. I held out my hand.
"Can I see what you've written so far." Vic look hesitant and Jaime shook his head.
"He never reveals them until they're finished." Jaime slumped back into the couch, folding his arm over his chest. I batted my eyelashes at Vic as I continued holding my hand up. Vic held it close to his chest, as I pouted my lips. He glared at me, before reluctantly placing the pad into my hand.
"I hate you." He mumbled. I blew a kiss at him, whilst Jaime stared wide eyed.
"So she's allowed to read them, but I can't!" He exclaimed loudly. I gave Jaime an innocent smile, as Vic rose to his won defence.
"Did you see the face she was giving me?" I turned and mimicked the face I showed Vic two seconds ago. Jaime opened his mouth to protest before closing it.
"Oh, I see." Was all he said as I laughed before scanning over his written lyrics. He had cute messy, but legible, handwriting. The lyrics were beautiful, and it made me realise, this one needed to be softer then the others. That's what it needed, was some softness. Vic picked the guitar back up, as Jaime now sat with his legs against the back of the armchair he was on, with his head on the ground. He grabbed his own guitar, strumming a little. Vic played around a bit with his before a small tune came out. I gasped loudly, nearly throwing the notepad in the air.
"What was that?" Vic had stopped playing, but Jaime now had his eyes close and was singing, actually more like wailing, at the top of his voice.
"Jaime, shut the fuck up." Vic yelled, before turning back to me.
"What was what?" He questioned, leaning towards me, a sweet concern in his eyes.
"That tune you were playing, play it again." He looked confused but eventually got the tune. I hummed a little bit of the verse he had written down. I saw him slowly realise what I was doing, and Jaime joined in, studying Vic and copying him.
"Well you know,
That I'm cold
Black on constellations gold."
The words slipped out of my mouth. I saw Vic's eyes brighten, and his expression egged me on.
"And you know
That your soul's
Black top under lacing won't let it go
It was all for you,
