Chapter Twenty: Nerd Alert

"Ok what movie?" I asked Vic, as I crouched down, opening the cupboard full of DVDs. I eventually lost balance and fell on my arse, before looking behind at him.

"Well?" He was now curled up on the couch, a pillow squished into his side.

"Surprise me." My lips curled at the sides.

"Sure you wanna do that?" I questioned with a mischievous smirk. He shrugged, giving me a lazy smile.

"The worst you could put on is a crappy chick flick." I considered that, before nodding, and turning back to the DVDs. I flicked through them, none really catching my attention. Before I saw it. I grinned, pulling it out, I turned it so Vic couldn't see the cover and placed it in the player. I hid the now empty case back in the cupboard before crawling across the floor with the remotes, and getting onto the couch next to Vic.

"What are we watching?" He asked, leaning his head on a pillow to look at me. I grinned.

"You'll see." I chimed, snuggling into the couch, leaning slightly on Vic. It didn't take long before the title menu came on, and the eerie violin played. He looked at me.

"Lord of The Rings? Really?" I laughed, holding my fingers to my lips.

"Shhh, it's my favourite movie." I said, as I pressed play. Vic was still staring at me. I gave him a 'what' look.

"I'm secretly a nerd alright." He laughed, his head hanging off the back of the couch. He shook his head at me.

"Well, it's not a secret now." I pouted, facing the screen with my arms folded across my chest. My nose slightly screwed up. I suddenly felt Vic's fingertips brush my cheek.

"Well, you're my nerd." I looked up at him, as he smiled with mostly his eyes. I went to lean forward to kiss him, when I heard somebody start to clomp down the stairs. I growled under my breath, earning a breezy laugh from Vic, as I stared down the door. What surprised me most, was it was Ryan who burst through the door. He glared at me and Vic sitting on the couch. The only sound was Galadriel telling the story of each sets of rings and how the war of Middle Earth came about. Suddenly Ryan's glared softened, an he frowned at the tv.

"Are you watching Lord of The Rings?" He questioned. I didn't realise how long it had been since he'd spoke properly to him, until he said those words. I gave him an easy smile.

"Yeah, wanna watch it with us?" I hope I didn't annoy Vic by inviting my brother to stay, but as I looked at him in the corner of my vision, he seemed completely at ease. Ryan looked hesitant, before he nodded, closing the door behind him and walking over taking a seat next to me. He sat a little apart from me, which made me a little sad. Vic looked around me, smiling at Ryan.

"Hey, Ryan right? Nice to meet you again." Vic spoke, politely holding out his hand. Ryan stared at it as if it was poisonous. He very slowly, and gingerly grasped Vic's hand. I saw some tension leave him, but he merely grunted a reply, before keeping his eyes on the screen. Under the pillow, I reach for Vic's hand, lightly squeezing it to say a silent thank you. He squeezed back, keeping his eyes locked on the picture. I couldn't keep the small smile off my face, as I wiggled a bit and got comfortable. As the movie progressed, I could see Ryan become more and more comfortable. I opened the bag of chips, which lured Ryan to come sit next to me, so he could eat them. When Aragon was leading the hobbits away from the black riders, me and and Ryan both snorted at Pippen when he says, "What about second breakfast?" In his thick accent. Me and Ryan glanced sideways at each other, and I giggled. Ryan gave me a rare smile. Vic looked slightly confused, but went along with it. Mine and Vic's hand stayed grasped together during the whole movie. He would occasionally rub his thumb across my knuckles, making me shiver. Eventually, after nearly three hours of watching, it ended. Ryan glanced at me.
