The car ride was silent. As much as you wanted to put it all behind you and go back to being friendly with Monarch, his secret villain dealings blocked the way for you. The more you stewed on it, the more you realized it wasn't so much him you were upset at.

It was you.

Even now, over a month later, you thought about Tomura and the rest of the League. You were relieved to be out of their clutches but you almost missed them too? They hurt people; murdered and kidnapped! And yet, you sympathized with their cause. It disgusted you and made you feel like a hypocrite for judging Monarch.

It was like they had planted a dark seed in your heart, and ever so slowly the vines of their sweet corruption constricted you from the inside. You wondered if Dabi knew that, and that's why he was coming after you.

A shiver of fear and arousal shook your being. You imagined Dabi finding you; his eyes blue like his fire. His voice, likely damaged from his scars, dark and raspy. You could feel his burning hands traveling up your thighs. It terrified you. It terrified you how much you wanted it.

If you gave in to that temptation, how could you ever be a hero? You swallowed the lump in your throat. Maybe, Dabi knew that too.

"You're thinking yourself to death, dear," Monarch said.

You sighed, "Sometimes I feel like I have two different people inside of me, and they're duking it out - ripping me apart."

Monarch gazed at you thoughtfully. You hadn't seen him so pensive and silent before. A pep talk on how heroic you were, like from All Might, would've been helpful right now. Instead, you got -

"Stop fighting who you are."

You leaned back in your seat and waited for him to continue, unable to speak.

Monarch smiled, "You are trying so hard to make others happy. But what will make you happy? Whatever that is, I will support you."

"Even if I were a villain?" You said.

"Well, I don't think that would actually make you happy. I just meant that you're comparing yourself to two polar opposites. All Might and your father," he said, "You don't have to be either, even if that means you're somewhere in the gray. Maybe you can be a hero who gathers intelligence and is under the radar."

He tapped his skull with a wicked smirk. Was he giving you a clue into his life?

"You think I'd be good at something like that?" You asked.

"With your quirk? Absolutely. That's how your mother started."

"Really?" Your eyes went wide, "She was like an undercover agent or something?"

"Mhm. She could touch someone and influence their decision making, which proved very valuable. Not to mention, she was a little minx, much like you," he giggled thoughtfully.

"I see. I guess I always thought about getting rough with villains."

"With your role models it's no wonder..."

That got you to thinking, "Is that how she got involved with my dad?"

Monarch nodded with a sad smile, "Yes. One of her missions got them tangled together. She always had a heart for darker creatures. Toxic as it was, you couldn't deny their chemistry."

You cringed. Sounds like a personality trait - flaw - that ran in the family...

The car suddenly stopped and your driver looked in the rear view mirror, "Sorry, sir. We're hitting some traffic."
