You stood outside Monarch's glass doors, clasping your hands together, trying to appear innocent and adorable.

Your godfather had been delighted to hear from you on the phone, but when he noticed how tired you sounded and your emergency request to see him tonight, he welcomed you with some weariness.

"Darling..." his eyes shifted all around, but you came alone, "It's not that I'm ever unhappy to see you, pumpkin, but why this late? Why are you by yourself out in the cold... hey, yeah! Just what the hell do you think you're doing, child?!"

You made a weak yelp when Monarch's long arms swallowed you up and dragged you inside the greenhouse. "I came to explain!" You said.

"I'm about ready to tie you up somewhere!" Monarch scolded, "Hawks can't even keep tabs on you then I don't know who can. Did it slip your mind that a sociopathic crime lord almost married you? Poof! Bad memories are gone?"

"Monarch..." you deadpanned. He had you over his shoulder now, parading angrily through the newly planted trees. You just accepted it for now and swayed like a deadweight, waiting for the best chance to interrupt.

"Not to mention your other creepy boyfriends that would run off with you if they could," his tone reached a pitch that hurt your ears, "It's like you want me to die young! All this wasted because my child wanted to worry me into an early grave."

"Oh gods," you scoffed, "You are the king of drama. Would you please stop!"

"You stop," he huffed.

"I didn't come alone! Okay. I wasn't alone tonight. Quite the opposite," you said, "Put me down because I have to ask you something... like, a big favor. Like I'd owe you for the rest of my life."

That peeked his interest. "This sounds juicy. Spill all the tea, please."

You were back on your two feet. He was covered in emerald green silk. Pajamas by the looks of it. "Did you sleep here?" You asked.

"Hm?" Monarch tilted his head, his long dark hair in a side braid, "Well, it is my home! Your aunt might be upset with me but a man can sleep in his own house without it being weird!"

"Uh, huh... what'd you do?"

"She-! Your darling aunt and I were arguing over a silly game... and she totally cheated."

You snorted, "Oh, yeah. She cheats."

"What!" Monarch's thin eyebrows couldn't pull down any harder, "I knew it!"

"Yeah, especially if it's her time of the month, which is more than likely why she kicked you out," you shrugged, "You're just out of luck, but anyway, my issues..."

Monarch was still pouting but he did his best to refocus. You didn't know the best way to go about this tactfully, so you put it all out there. How you and Hawks were going to play the field to infiltrate villain groups, that you found Heller and his friends in the underground...

"And... I was sort of hoping they could stay with you? Just for a bit..?" You winced, "Until I figure something out."

"Adopt a bunch of cultists?" Monarch tapped his chin, "That's new, even for me."

"I don't want to burden you... I just need them somewhere safe, and with someone who can keep them busy until I can deal with them," you said, "One of them is particularly difficult. I'm not selling this am I?"

"Hmm... could I put them to work?" He asked.

"Please do. Distracted is better, and they're the type to pull their weight."
