AN: so really funny and stupid 🤣 I've been typing "starring" and "starred" instead of "staring" and "stared" for the longest time in both books AND NO ONE CORRECTED ME?!
You guys are angels 😂❤️
And I am the dumb
I should also add: mild spoiler ⚠️?
Hawks continued to grin as he heard (Y/N) having at it with his feather friends. He was impressed that she found every single one - even the one in her garment drawer. Clever girl, he thought.
Bummer. Just one survivor would've been nice.
His chipper mood was short lived, however. As he soared away from UA, the wind picking up his wings, he was forced to descend in a sketchy ally where his new contact waited for him.
As soon as he landed, he was met by a pair of bored, turquoise eyes.
"Took you long enough."
Hawks' smile turned into a thin line, "She didn't have anything - not anything you were hoping to find, anyway."
Dabi lit the cigarette in his mouth with the tip of his finger, "I guess I was wrong." He inhaled, "Or... there's a rat in UA. If we're lucky, it's an infestation." The idea seemed to amuse the villain. As smoke exited his mouth and nose, he gave a low chuckle.
"What good is she to The League, Dabi? I should know these things."
Dabi didn't respond for a long time, irking the winged hero who stood their waiting. "Do I trust you with all my juicy secrets, hero?" Dabi flicked the cigarette at Hawks' feet.
Hawks stomped on it with his heel, "What more do I have to do to prove that I'm on your side?"
"Are you willing to kill one of your friends for me? Bring (Y/N) to my doorstep, wrapped with a ribbon?" When Hawks said nothing, Dabi shrugged, "Looks like your loyalty is half-assed at best."
Dabi turned to leave. Not even a thank you, huh? Hawks focused on the back of Dabi's head, "But she's not important to you anymore - right?"
"Huh?"
"I just don't see the point in pursuing her further. Shigaraki's gotta have a better plan in the works."
Dabi's shoulders shook, and Hawks knew he was laughing, albeit quiet and guttural, "There are plenty of ways to get what I want from her. And plenty that I want."
He leaned his head back and to the side, giving Hawks a sliver of his attention, "But don't worry. I won't have you do anything too distasteful. That'll be my job."
Hawks grit his teeth, "What role does she play in our end game?"
Dabi's eyes lit up wildly, "A doe-eyed brat with compulsive tendencies and daddy issues suddenly has an entire army of criminal servants at her disposal - and that doesn't sound useful to you? You're smarter than that, right. Or you're just trying to protect her."
Hawks focused on keeping his face from making any reaction, "I doubt she'd surrender her people to you. And I doubt even further that they would listen, even if she did."
"Continue to doubt all you like. I don't care. I'll let you know what we need you for next." Dabi was done this time, and didn't wait for more from Hawks.
Masking his emotions and intent had become second nature to Hawks. So much, that it scared even him sometimes. He grunted as he pushed off the ground, picking up speed and reaching the top of the nearest building, where he perched. Dabi's lean figure kept to the shadows, his jacket buttoned all the way up to hide the burns on his neck and chin.
