"Hawks..." his name barely passed your lips.

Dabi's arm came across your shoulders, reeling you into his side, "See? Isn't this a nice surprise."

What was going on? What was happening right now? Did Hawks find you or was he invited? He wouldn't work for the League, but the look on Hawks' face told you otherwise.

"Wanna hear something interesting," Dabi breathed into your ear, "He even killed someone just for the chance to see you. Isn't that romantic? Look at what you do to these heroes."

You looked to Hawks for an explanation, "What is he talking about..?"

"Open the bag," Dabi nudged you forward, "Let's see who he brought."

"Don't make her do that," Hawks said. His tone was so far from his norm that it gave you chills.

"What's the harm? She'll know you did it either way," Dabi sneered, "No need to protect her."

"I said don't."

"Fine," Dabi walked passed you while Hawks dropped the bag. He didn't take his eyes off you, even when Dabi was at his feet, unzipping the contents he brought.

You felt like you should keep looking at Hawks, but the need to confirm what Dabi said was true pulled your eyes down. Ice flooded your veins. Not only had Hawks apparently killed someone, but you recognized this hero too.

"Jeanist?" You gasped, and took a step back.

A very lifeless corpse of Best Jeanist was crumpled to fit inside the bag. What the... fuck?! Your eyes shot back up to Hawks, whose face hadn't changed.

"Not bad," Dabi said, as if he were merely judging Hawks' cooking, "I wasn't going to believe that you actually took out Jeanist, but even she's convinced. Fact is, you killed someone because I told you to. Seems like you could be worth something to us after all."

"That's the plan," Hawks said, "Have you considered my idea then?"

How can he be so cold about this?!

"Yeah," Dabi laughed, "Why don't we ask (Y/N) what she thinks? How bout it, cupcake? Want to go home with this murderer instead?"

You were still horrified at the fact that the number two just killed the number three hero. What did Dabi just ask you? You looked between the two of them, feeling more lost and frightened by the second.

"I don't understand..." you took another step back.

"Baby," Dabi cooed, "You know we've all done worse. Don't act scared now."

Your lip trembled as you questioned Hawks, "Why are you doing this?"

"I told you before, kid," his lips didn't quite make a smile, "you're too trusting."

His answer felt like a punch to the gut. You turned completely around, unable to focus on anything without the urge to cry. This was more than you ever expected from Hawks, or anyone from the other side.

It was like Shinso and Denki all over again... maybe worse.

"Hawks wants to make you a double agent, same as he is," Dabi said, "I'll admit, there's some appeal to it, but obviously you aren't ready. Besides..."

His presence approached you from behind, but you hardly noticed, until his fingers were gliding over your throat. Dabi rest his chin in the crook of your neck and chuckled darkly.

"I like you right here," he whispered, "We can't have you blowing his cover."

He was right. Now, you really were stuck with the League. Or with Hawks. I guess it's both now...
