'Saying you missed me too would hurt your ego, so you decided not to say it back?' Davina asked Elijah as they were making their way through the quarter, joking. 'Now why would I say it when you know I did?' he asked. 'Because it would feel good to hear it' she answered. 'Well I'm sorry Davina, but you're not going to hear it today' he said. 'Fine. I don't need to anyway' she said.

'Where do you want to eat?' he asked and she shrugged. 'Maybe go and get a pizza or something like that' she said and he laughed a bit. 'I think a proper meal would be better for you right now. You're probably still a little bit weak' he said and she frowned. He noticed that, and it made him smile. 'Don't worry, once we are sure you are completely fine, you can eat whatever you want' he says and she nodded. 'Okay' she answered.

Soon they arrived at a restaurant, and it didn't take long to Davina to order, she was starving so she just ordered whatever came into her mind, and so did Elijah.

While they were waiting, he looked at her, and asked something no one did from the moment she had come back. 'How are you feeling? Everyone was asking you about my mother, but I don't think I heard anyone ask you that. How are you?' he asked, and she looked at him. 'Honestly, I don't know. It feels weird. I feel confused, and everything happened too fast' she answered, and he looked at her, thinking about her answer. 'It must be hard' he said and she nodded. 'Well, I'm okay now' she said.

He looked at her and he wanted to apologize. He had no reason to. But he felt like her dying was his fault. He was feeling guilty, and her completely forgetting about it and not mentioning it made him feel even worse. He thought she would be angry about it, he thought she would blame him just as much as she blamed Klaus. But instead, she never mentioned it to him. He knew that it wasn't actually his fault, that he couldn't have done anything to prevent what happened, but he couldn't help but blame himself. If she hadn't tried to bring him back, Klaus wouldn't have interrupted Freya and Davina wouldn't have died.

He hadn't realized he had zoned out till the waiter set the plates and their drinks in front of them, and Davina slowly put her hand on his, to bring him back to reality. 'Elijah, are you okay?' she asked and shook his head a bit. 'Yeah, I'm alright' he said and she moved her hand.

Then, she immediately started eating, and he looked at her and he started too. They avoided any kind of conversation that would make them feel weird, or argue, instead they just talked about Esther, or the Other Side, trying to enjoy the time they had to spend together.

When they decided to leave, it was already dark outside. In their surprise, the night was quiet, maybe there weren't that many tourists out that night. You could still hear the jazz music in distance, but it was peaceful. They walked around, and at that moment, they didn't care about anything, for a few hours, it was just them. They didn't talk. They didn't need to, just being there for each other was enough for them. Even if it was just that one day. Elijah didn't talk because he was feeling guilty too, and Davina noticed that something was off, but she thought she was wrong.

After sometime, they took a turn, went at street far away from the music, with no people around. It would normally scare Davina, since she hadn't practised magic yet and she didn't know if she could, she didn't know if she would be able to protect herself. But she was with him, so she didn't care, she knew that she was nothing but safe around him. It was dark, but after some walking, they found themselves standing under a street light. That's when Davina stopped and turned to look at Elijah.

'Elijah' she said, and he sensed the question that was about to come. 'Yeah' he answered. 'Is there something wrong?' she asked and he looked at her. 'No. There's nothing wrong' he said. 'I don't believe you' she said, her voice being soft, trying to understand what was wrong. 'To be honest with you, Davina, I do not understand how you have forgiven me' he decided to be honest, and she frowned. 'About what?' she asked confused. 'You dying while bringing me back to life' he said and she smiled a bit. 'I don't have to forgive you. I have no reason to blame you about that, it was Klaus' fault' she said and he moved his hand between them, gesturing while he talked. 'But I do blame me, you died because you wanted to bring me back, Davina' he said. 'I chose to do it. And it was not your fault Elijah' she said, emphasizing the word "not", trying to convince him. 'What you did though, you risked your life and died for me. And it broke me. I don't know how I could ever return what you did for me. I owe you' he said and she looked at him, not knowing what to say.

The way he talked about her, saying that her dying broke him, made her heart skip a few beats. At that moment, she knew she loved him, and suddenly, she didn't feel confused anymore. She knew what she wanted. 'You don't owe me anything. However, I can ask for something in return' she said and he put his hand in his pocket.

'And what is that?' he asked looking at her, and she took a step closer to him. 'Kiss me back when I kiss you' she said and he looked at her, he didn't see that coming, at least not that fast. He knew he wanted to kiss her and so did she, so that's when she stretched onto her tiptoes, and he took his hand out of his pocket. They looked at each other, and then, she made their lips meet, kissing him, both of them closing their eyes, and his heart skipped a bit, just like hers did, realizing how long they both had been waiting to do that. He put his hand on her waist, while her hands where in between them, her fists touching his chest. He bent down a bit, making it easier for both of them to continue their kiss, that they both waited for, since the moment they saw each other. It wasn't just a kiss though, it was them showing each other that they've missed one another, that she loved him and he loved her. After a bit, they pulled back, to breathe, and she looked at him. She smiled a bit. 'You don't owe me anything now' she said, and in response, he kissed her again. Maybe he needed that more than she did.

After all, she was the one that had left with Kol, he was still there, thinking she was gone. He didn't want to kiss her. He knew things were going to be more complicated than they already were, but at the same time, he couldn't stop himself from doing it again.

After they both pulled back, he moved his hand away from her waist, and they both stared at each other. He moved his hand close to her face, tucking some of her hair behind her ear. 'Davina, I don't think we should' he said, thinking it was all a mistake that just felt right. 'Why?' she asked, raising both of her eyebrows, but still staying as close to him as she could. She didn't let him answer though. 'I love you, Elijah, and I know for sure that so do you. There's no reason why we shouldn't' she said, and looking at him, without stopping for a second.

He didn't want to ruin the moment. He didn't want to mention Kol, or his siblings, or anyone else, and her asking why was only going to ruin it. And he didn't say he loved her. Because he knew that once he admitted he did, that would be it, he wouldn't be able to stop. 'You're right. We should' he said, and then, he kissed her again.

This is my favourite chapter so far, just the two of them.
