Chapter 5

* in New York *

Davina unlocks the door. 'Kol!' she shouts but gets no answer.

He's probably feeding

She thinks and walks in their bedroom. She lies on the bed, and goes through her phone. After a while, she stands up opens the closet to change clothes. But she notices that on Kol's side, some clothes are not there. It was not just a shirt, there were more missing. She looked around and his backpack was missing too. She gets kinda worried, but she doesn't want to bother him, besides it can be just nothing. So she walks in the bathroom and takes a shower. She gets out and gets dressed, and nothing from Kol yet. She takes her phone and walks in the living room. She types Kol's number and calls him...

* in New Orleans *

'Elijah doesn't have to know anything, Rebekah' he says. 'Elijah doesn't have to know what exactly, brother?' Elijah shows up. Kol's phone rings. He looks at them and then at his phone. 'Is that her?' Rebekah asks. Kol nods, and Elijah seems confused. 'Who is it? And is anyone going to answer my previous question, or do I need to start using unpleasant ways?' 'It's a friend of mine' he says and he declines Davina's call. 'And there is nothing that you can't know' he adds. 'There is clearly something' Elijah insists. Rebekah steps up because she wants everything to remain a secret. 'He's just having some problems controlling the hunger' she says. Elijah nods, and Kol looks at him.

I did this to him

He thinks. 'Elijah, I was just about to tell Kol what is going on with our problems.' 'You never finished though' Kol says. 'Why don't we just kill Caroline, and get rid of the Hollow?' he suggests. 'Cause Klaus won't allow it. He doesn't want us to lay a finger on Caroline' Freya says and Rebekah adds 'Of course he doesn't, he still likes Caroline even if he has feelings for Cami'. Elijah looks at them 'We can't let him die. He is our brother. He has a daughter he needs to care after all'. 'Yes, that daughter also is in Mystic Falls and has no idea that this is going to happen' Freya says. 'And she will not'. They all turn around. 'I see a nice family gathering here, and still, no one invited me' Klaus said and laughed a little bit. Kol looks at him, and then at Elijah, still shocked. 'Die?' he asks. Elijah nods. 'Oh, come on brother, it is not the end of the world' Klaus tries to joke about it. Kol looks at him. 'And what stops me for ripping that girl's heart out?' Kol asks, and every one in this room can see that he is mad. 'Kol, brother' Klaus scoffs and continues, 'You will not touch Caroline. Besides, if you do, the Hollow will be gone, and then nothing will stop me from killing you.' Kol looks at him. 'Even if you wanted to die, there isn't any piece of the white oak, we burnt it two years ago' Kol says. 'When we're talking about Mikaelsons, there is always a last piece of white oak, even if we burnt the last one. History has taught us this' he says and smirks. 'For God's sake Nik, it isn't funny!' Kol yells. 'I agree, it is not. And I won't hear any of this nonsense anymore. You don't want Caroline to die, very well, Freya will put the Hollow in me, and you will take my life' Elijah says to Klaus. All three siblings look at him. 'I had no intention to tell any of you, and just do it my own way, but since you all insist on Klaus not to die, I will' he says decisively. 'Elijah, no' Rebekah is the one to speak first. 'I didn't ask for your permission sister' Elijah tries to prevent the denial coming from all of them. 'And I didn't ask for your permission either' he says pointing at his brothers, and Freya, raising his voice. 'So, keep that in mind' he adds and disappears. Kol is about to follow him, but Klaus using his supernatural speed, finds himself just in Kol's way. 'Is there something you wish to share with me, Nik?' Kol says. 'Yes. In fact, I want you to inform me about the time that you had left.' 'I don't have-' Kol starts answering, but Klaus stops him. 'Oh, don't bother, Marcel told me already. You were with that little witch, weren't you.' Kol steps back. 'No I wasn't' Kol said. 'Kol there is no need to lie, he knows, and you can't hide the truth' Rebekah says and Kol looks at Klaus, who is a little bit angry now. 'Klaus I am sorry but I don't have to explain everything' he says and that makes Klaus even angrier. 'I am going to tell Elijah. What happens to you after, is none of my concern' he says and disappears too.' 'Family reunion indeed' Rebekah says sarcastically.

* in New York *

Davina starts getting worried. She has no idea where Kol is, and her locating spells don't work. She texts him, but gets no answer. She checks the time and it's almost midnight. She changes clothes, and lies on the bed. She gets under the covers, and not long after, she falls asleep, letting herself have dreams, about how she wants her life, dreaming about her best future...

* next morning, in New Orleans *

The Mikaelsons might have their differences and fights, that usually end up with daggers and coffins, but in the end, they will always end up drinking in the same room. Kol walks in the living room, where Klaus and Elijah are already drinking bourbon. Elijah, without talking, pours some in a glass and places it on the table, Kol walks and takes it, taking a sip quickly. Klaus is sometimes staring at his drink and sometimes looking at Kol mad. Elijah has noticed that, while Kol is just drinking. The only thing you could hear was their weak breathing, nothing else. Silence is everywhere, and they don't seem to particularly care about breaking that silence. Kol checks his phone regularly, but never types anything, and Klaus having already understood what Kol is looking at his phone, exhales annoyed. Elijah sighs, and after taking the last sip of his bourbon, he is the one who breaks the silence. 'What's up with you two?' he asks. Klaus looks at Kol. 'Brother do you want to speak or shall I? Oh, don't bother I will.' Kol looks at him, and the veins under his eyes show up, but doesn't talk.

This is it.

He thinks. 'What is that you wish to say Niklaus?' Elijah asks. 'Davina is not dead Elijah. She has left. Guess who she was with' Klaus says and looks at Kol decisively. Kol drinks to avoid any eye contact, and Elijah is shocked, and as it seems disappointed. 'Davina is not dead?' he asks and his voice nearly breaks. 'No brother she isn't. She's gone with Kol' Klaus continues. Elijah looks at Kol. 'With you?'
