"Efren, Kira said that you wanted to tell me something about Dyads," I say.

I notice Efren tense for a quick second before he nods.

"Yeah I do," Efren says.

"What do you want to tell me?" I ask.

"While you were with the Sisters of Selene I had to go on a different mission, and on that mission, I figured out about dyads, what do you know about a dyad?" Efren asks.

"Not much. I only heard the word in one of the mother's visions," I say.

Efren nods.

"I wouldn't expect you to know much about them, they're incredibly rare and not something a crystal-user ever sees," Efren says.

"So what is it?" I ask.

"First you need to know that a dyad is a pairing of two crystal-sensitive beings making them one in the crystal force. The power of a dyad is as strong as life itself, and the individuals who formed a dyad shared a connection that spanned across space and time," Efren says.

"Okay? Why did you want to tell me about them?" I ask.

"While you were away on Selene I was off on a different mission, and that mission gave me information that I suspected to be true but needed confirmation," Efren says.

"Okay?"

"Skye, you and I are a dyad in the crystal force," Efren says.

"Really?" I ask, and I couldn't hide the fact that I had the sound of pride in my voice.

Efren and I were a dyad in the crystal force. It was a gift to be connected to him, especially after everything he has done for me.

"I had a hunch especially after you said that you had dreams of me before I even met you," Efren says.

"Well I only ever heard your voice and saw your silhouette," I say.

"But you still knew me when we met for the first time," Efren says.

I smile and nod. We touch down on the planet and Efren lowers the ramp. I made sure that I had pulled on my coverings, especially in the desert you definitely wanted to be covered. We walked out onto the desert sand and I was immediately squinting my eyes in the sun. It was hot on Selene, but this was a different kind of humid.

Selene was humid hot, this place was dry hot. Efren was talking but I couldn't hear him. The only thing I could hear was drums, they started off distant and dull, but as I stood on this planet they got louder and seemed to be pounding in my head. I clutched my head.

"Skye?"Efren asks resting a hand on my shoulder.

He knew something was wrong with me.

"Can you not hear the drums? They're deafening," I say.

A look of concern settles on Efren's face.

"Skye, I don't hear anything," Efren says.

I groan and clutch my head all I could hear were the drums they surrounded me. They were never-ending.

"Skye," I hear Efren in the distance, but he doesn't seem to talk louder than the drums.

I feel his hand on my shoulder. I grab it with my other hand. Tears were flowing down my cheeks.

"It hurts Efren," I say crying.

"Let me hear them," Efren says.

I nod and try to calm down, which was hard enough without the never-ending pounding of drums. Efren's hands were on my ears. I grabbed them and willed him to hear what I hear. I looked at him through my eyelashes with tears in my eyes. I can see him straining to hear what was going on.

When he pulled away they came roaring back, and I clutched my head.

"Did you hear anything?" Theo asks.

"I heard what she's hearing faintly. Nowhere near the volume, she's hearing it at," Efren says.

Theo nods. I sigh they didn't know what to do and neither did I.

"Go on without me. It's clear that I can't do this right now. I'll just wait on the ship," I say.

"Skye, are you sure?" Efren asks.

"Positive," I say.

Efren and Theo share a look and nod.

"We'll be back soon," Theo says.

I nod. They turn and race off. When they disappear I turn towards the sound and walk towards it. When I decided to follow the drums they lessened. I came to a stop in the middle of nowhere. The drums had gone completely silent.

"Great," I whisper.

Before I can turn to head back a giant trapdoor opened underneath me and I fell through. I hit my arm and slid down the shoot that had been under the trapdoor. I let out a grunt as I slid down the tunnel. It was stone with a slick covering, but that didn't stop me from getting scratched up. I came to a stop on some pile of soft chippings.

I got up and groaned. When I was less disoriented I saw that a person was staring at me. I tensed. The guy smiled at me.
