Chapter 17: Flames

I land on the floor with Wren. I make sure he's okay before letting him go, and heading towards the people hiding in the shadows.

"I see you. Come out with your hands up." I demand.

I spare a glance over my shoulder to see Wren was checking the people who had been residing over the trial. I glance back over at the people. They came out. They were grinning, and I could tell they were pleased with something. My eyes quickly glanced around to see people still making their way out.

"We will come out, but not with our hands up." The leader says smiling smugly.

I feel myself grit my teeth together.

"It's you guys again." I say.

"Hello Skye. We're surprised you remember us." They say.

"Of course I remember you. How could I forget you. You blew up a whole town." I say.

I was really trying to stall to make sure people got out.

"Oh we're so pleased you remember us. That town was nothing compared to what we have planned." They say.

"What do you have planned. Who are you working for?" I ask.

"We're not working for anyone." They say.

"Sure. Last time I ran into you, you barely had enough for that town. I also know none of you care about politics, so it means you have a wealthy supplier who isn't happy about something political." I say.

They smile. I see most of the people had gotten out. This is when I decided to summon one of my swords. I see the person in the lead become alert, and get ready to detonate the bombs.

"You try anything and this place goes up in flames." The leader says.

"I know. I've been stalling. All the people are out." I say.

"But you and your boyfriend won't be." The leader says.

I turn around to see Wren climbing off the stand the people were at. His face showed they were all dead.

"I'm willing to take our chances." I say.

"What's gotten into you?" They ask.

I almost laugh. The last time I saw them I hadn't accepted the crystal force into me yet. So, the crystal force had gotten into me.

"Lets just say something powerful and limitless." I say.

I felt Wren come up beside me.

"Skye." Wren hissed.

"I know what I'm doing." I whisper.

Wren didn't look happy, but he nodded. I heard the doors open and some people head in. I knew it was Theo, Efren, Mia, Kira, and Lincoln.

"Wren get out now." I say.

Wren groans, but did. The people grimaced at my extra people.

"The bombs are already armed. I press the detonator and that's it." The leader says.

"Then do it." I say. "Oh but you need to get to safety, and you know we're not letting you get away." I say.

"Well you're going to have to decide between saving yourself and friends, or getting us." They say, then the leader presses the detonator.

I feel my heart leap into my throat, but I didn't have time to freeze. I had to think. I saw almost in slow motion the flames coming from the vents. I quickly concentrated the crystal force on a certain area. I was stopping the flames from going anywhere, while also forcing them up. It was tiring.

I was shaking, but I was more focused on the flames. I know the other people were doing this, and while this was going on the people were fleeing. There wasn't a lot of us, so no one could go after them, but their were people out there to get them. I felt myself be pushed back a little. I grunted, then focused more on containing the flames, and forcing it up.

I saw that the cumulation of other people's flames were near the top. They were trapped right now. I groaned. I forced myself to split my focus. One on the flames the other on the ceiling.

I let out a scream, and the roof of the building broke open and the flames left. I focused back on the flames forcing them to be contained and going up. Eventually the flames were done. I let go and exhaustion over took me. I forced myself to remain awake though.

I turned around and saw everyone else. They didn't look much better than me. I headed over to Theo. I held his face in my hands.

"Are you okay?" I ask.

"Yeah I'm good." Theo says.

I nod. Efren comes over to me and checks on me. I check Efren. Lincoln and Kira were checking each other. Mia had disappeared. Efren was looking at me and making sure I was really okay.

"Efren I'm fine." I say.

"No you're burning up." Efren says.

"We just dealt with flames, of course I'm hot." I say, but as I said that I felt Efren and he wasn't hot.

"No we're not." Efren says.

I nod.

"Come on. I have an idea on how to help you." Efren says gently taking my hand in his.

I nod. He leads me towards the center and sits me down. He calls people to him. They came over.

"Alright people. We're going to do a healing circle." Efren says.

I sigh, but didn't protest. People get in a circle around me, so I'm in the center, then they sit down, and start to meditate. I lay down.
