We had to go back to the capital for another meeting. Theo, Efren, and I weren't exactly happy about doing that. But it was expected and I knew we had to go. Felicity was going to stay with the ship and keep leading the people, but Efren, Helaina, Theo, Lars, and I were going down in the smaller ship we had. We landed on the planet and started heading towards the senate.
We were all decked out in our best outfits. Helaina was wearing a beautiful golden gossamer gown, and she wore it like it was made specifically for her. Efren and Theo were in their best suits that had been tailored to them. Lars didn't really have clothes because he was covered in fur, so his fur was brushed, and looked extremely clean. I was wearing a simple purple gown that had gems embroidered along the bodice.
My hair was pulled into a braid crown around my head. Purple flowers wove throughout the braid. We took our seats and the meeting started. I half-listened to what everyone was saying. The only time I actually paid attention was when I had to report to the council how my quest was going.
I gave them the bare minimum. I didn't go into all the details and I didn't tell them everything. I told them how far we had come and long we still had to go. When the meeting ended Helaina, Efren, Lars, and Theo headed to the area where the food was to get some before we headed back. Kira and Lincoln were here somewhere and I was going to look for them, but before I could do that I ran into someone familiar.
I hadn't seen him in ages. His brown eyes were different, and his hair was longer. It was Wren. I tried to make hide so he wouldn't see me, but that has never worked I don't know why I thought it would.
"Skye?" He whispered.
"Hey Wren," I say.
"I haven't seen you in a while. You look good," Wren says.
"Thank you, you look good too," I say.
Wren fixed me with his concerned stare.
"What happened you look healthy, better than the last time I saw you," Wren says.
"Well Felicity can work wonders and you know a planet of magical women," I say mumbling the last part under my breath.
Wren heard me though.
"Skye, that's amazing they healed you?" Wren asks.
"Yeah," I say.
"How have you been?" Wren asks.
"I'm fine, what's going on with you?" I ask.
"Oh after we broke up I found a job on the planet Arakis as a politician's scribe, and I advanced through the ranks. I'm a senator now," Wren says.
"Congratulations," I say.
Wren smiles.
"Thank you," He says.
He was about to say something else when I heard his name being called.
"Wren, where are you?"
"Over here," Wren says.
A girl appeared from the hallway turning the corner into this hallway. She had honey blonde hair and deep emerald eyes. She was stunning, to say the least. She moved with grace and elegance everywhere. She was everything a politician's wife was supposed to look like.
"Oh, there you are," She giggles and grabs Wren's arm. "Dear, who is this?"
"Oh, um Willow, meet Skye, Skye, this is Willow, my girlfriend," Wren says.
"Nice to meet you," I say forcing a smile.
"Nice to meet you too," She says.
So, Wren never mentioned me to her.
"Well if you excuse me I have to go find my crew," I say and go to turn around, but Wren calls after me.
I walk away far enough that I can't see Willow then turn around to face him.
"Skye, I was going to tell you," Wren says.
"Honestly Wren, you are not obligated to tell me anything. We broke up. You don't owe me anything, just like I don't owe you anything. We didn't work. if you found someone you love, then my opinion really shouldn't matter. I'm glad you found someone, now I have to go," I say, then turn around and head towards the food area.
Everything I told him was true, but it still hurt like a bitch. I wiped some of the tears that had fallen from my eyes, then steel myself before heading into the food area. I found my crew almost immediately and headed over to them.
"Hey, there you are we were looking for you," Lars says.
"I can see that," I joke looking at all the food before him.
Efren rested his hand on my shoulder.
"Skye, are you okay?" Efren mumbled.
"Yeah, I'm fine I just ran into an old acquaintance," I say.
"Who?" Efren asks.
Before I could answer the doors opened and Wren walked in with his new girlfriend with their arms linked. Efren looked from the doors back to me.
"Wren," I say.
