Chapter 38: Dyad

I zeroed in on one person in particular. He looked a little like Lincoln so, I assumed he was an ancestor of his. It also meant that person was a descendant of Lawson. I started walking towards him and I managed to catch what he was saying. Mother seemed to realize what was happening, because she was watching me, I could feel it, but she stayed quiet, and in the background.

"There's something wrong with the crystal-force I can feel it," Lincoln's ancestor says.

"What do you feel?" The person he was talking to asked.

"The crystal-force is skewed. It's not balanced. There's more-blue-green crystal-users than their are red-yellow crystal-users than their are red-yellow crystal-users. We may not get along, but they are needed they keep up the darker side of the crystal-force and we keep up the lighter side of the crystal-force," Lincoln's ancestor says.

"So what do you suggest we do?" Someone asks.

"Usually when the crystal-force is off balance it does something to counteract the unbalance. It can cause a bunch of deaths or it starts in motion to bring balance," Lincoln's ancestor says.

I think back to when I realized Lincoln and Kira were supposed to end up together and what they did to bring balance back to the force. It was Eva, she was fated to happen. She was the only one who had a purple crystal. I stopped thinking though, because something interrupted my thoughts. Lincoln's ancestor was starting to seize up.

"What's wrong?" The person asks.

"Don't be alarmed I knew this was going to happen," Lincoln's ancestor says.

"Know what was going to happen?" The person asks.

"The crystal-force can also create a bond between two separate people. They may never meet, but their is a link between them. They're called a dyad and they are linked through the force. It turns out I'm one half of one, but I never knew who the other half was," Lincoln's ancestor says.

"What can dyads do?" The person asks.

"They can heal each other, they're connected through the crystal-force, they can talk to each other through the crystal-force, and other things. I never knew who the other half of my dyad was so there is a lot I don't know. What I know is what I've looked up information about. I have a feeling if a dyad knows each other personally they can be incredibly powerful," Lincoln's ancestor says.

He relaxed and a look of sadness just overtook his face.

"What happened?" The person asks.

"A dyad shares a life force. I just felt the other side of my dyad die," Lincoln's ancestor says.

The person just nods. They stop talking and I turn my attention back to mother. She was looking at me confused.

"We should head back," She says.

I nod. I feel like we're racing through water, but then I open my eyes and we're back where we had been. Mother next to me and the fire in front of me.

"I've combed through all your memories before you saw mine. I know what type of person you are and I know you're struggling with," Mother says.

I just nod.

"It's going to be a bit before Big Brother comes back. Use this time to get to know my daughters and come up with a plan to fight Big Brother, but also use this time to care for yourself. Eat, rest, sleep, relax. Have fun. I saw that you like to run through forests, and swim in rivers. This planet is at your disposal," Mother says.

"Thank you," I say.

"Felicity is your nurse, but Grace is also at your disposal. She can do things Felicity cannot," Mother says.

"Thank you," I say.

Mother nods.

"Also, after you've helped us I can help you," Mother says.

"How?" I ask.

"You're dying, but I can do something to help," Mother says.

"What?" I ask.

"There's a reason I've lived so long. I have to whip up a potion, but it will have you feeling better in a few hours," Mother says.

"How long?" I ask.

"As long as you need it too. It starts reversing the dying process while healing you," Mother says.

Tears came to my eyes.

"Thank you," I say.

"Of course. I'd hate to see a brilliant person like yourself taken so quickly from the universe," Mother says.

I wipe my tears.

"How long do I have here to plan for Big Brother?" I ask.

"About two weeks," Mother says.

I nod.

"That's enough time," I say.

Mother nods.

"Good, now you may leave. Go back and tell Grace what I've told you and then you can get started," Mother says.

I nod, then stand up.

"Thank you again," I say.

Mother nods, then I head out. I go back to Grace's home. Inside she was sitting next to Felicity reading. When I entered she put the book down and stood up.

"How'd it go?" Grace asks.

"Really well," I say, then told her what Mother told me.

"That's great news!" Grace exclaims.

I nod trying to hold back tears again.

"Now what do you want to do first?" Grace asks.

"I think I need to explore. I need to scout the terrain and figure out our best vantage points," I say.

Grace nods.

"Grace, Felicity would you like to come with me?" I ask.

They both smile and nod.

"Alright, let me change, then we can go," I say.
