When I managed to compose myself I stood up and headed over to Efren. I noticed small tendrils of steam coming off of his sleeves.
"Efren!" I say.
It took a bit, but then the blue ruins disappeared from around Efren and on him. He opened his eyes and I felt a small smile appear on my face. It was a smile of relief. I helped Efren up. He took one look at me and knew something was wrong.
"Skye, what did you see?" Efren asks.
"I was taken to the world between worlds. There were all these doors leading to my past, present, and future. I had to look at one from my past that I thought was such a simple memory. I passed one from my future that I heard such horrible things. I mourned, grieved, and raged at something that hasn't happened yet." I say.
A few spare tears fell down my face. Efren gently wiped them away.
"What did you see? You were steaming when I said your name." I asked.
"Nothing important." Efren says.
I raised my eyebrow. I knew he was lying, but I also knew I wasn't going to get anything else from him so, I let it go. At least, for now. I turned to look at Theo. I gently shook him.
His eyes shot operand I saw a flash of light go through them.
"You ready?" I ask.
Theo stands up a little shakily. He nodded.
"Yeah, let's go." Theo says.
"Wait. Did you get something on where we're supposed to go?" Efren asks.
"Yeah." I say, then unfold the map I had on me.
When I unfolded it I saw the planet I had been on when she gave me this. It was the planet I had crash landed on, then was picked up by Efren, Helaina, and Lars.
"Don't tell me we have to go back there. We are so far from it now." Efren says.
"Hold on. My friend liked games." I say.
I check off that planet and one appeared shimmering after that. I tried to check that one off, but I couldn't.
"I guess we have to go to this one." I say.
"And do what?" Efren asks.
"I don't know, but this one is close by." I say.
"Skye, this friend of yours. Why haven't we heard of her?" Efren asks.
"Because you didn't need too. She was a friend. She left and that's that." I say.
"Skye." Efren began, but I cut him off.
"Come on we should get going." I say then start heading out of the cave.
Efren sighs, but Theo and him follow me. We make our way out, then get into the ship. In the ship Efren starts it up.
"Are we going straight to the planet or meeting up with the fleet?" Efren asks.
I pull up a holographic map. I typed in the planet we were heading towards, and then where the fleet of ships were.
"We're going to meet with the fleet and then we're going to have to leave relatively soon." I say.
"Or we could just go to the planet." Efren says.
"We need Lincoln and Kira." I say.
"Then call them. Don't you and Kira have a crystal bond?" Efren asks.
"Yeah, we do. Alright, I'm going to go contact her." I say.
Efren nods, and I head somewhere a tad more private to contact Kira. When I'm there I contact her. She was standing in front of me in hologram form.
"Skye, what's going on? Where are you?" Kira asks.
"I'm not aboard the Specter. Theo, Efren, and I are leaving Calys." I say.
Kira nods.
"Okay I know where we need to go next, but I need Lincoln and you also." I say.
"Where are we going?" Kira asks.
"A planet called Gwendite." I say.
"Are you sure?" Kira asks.
"I'm sure." I say.
"Okay." Kira says, but she sounds distant.
"Skye, what's wrong?" Kira asks.
"Nothing is wrong. . . . How did you know?" I ask.
"You're y best friend I knew something was wrong when I first saw you." Kira says.
"I went to the World Between Worlds whenI was in the cave of Calys. Doors were everywhere and they all opened to different aspects of my life. Past, present, and my future. I walked past a door that was scorching which meant it happened in the future and was something I couldn't change. I heard screams, sobs, and a ship falling. I need to know what was behind that door." I say.
"No you don't Skye. There's a reason you're not supposed to." Kira says.
"How do you know about the world between worlds?" I ask.
"Stories I've heard from Lincoln. He's been there. He saw something he wasn't supposed too, and he tried to change it, but that only made the event come faster." Kira says.
I bite my lip.
"We'll get there soon okay. Well see you there." Kira says.
I nod.
"Yeah. See you there." I say.
Kira's hologram faded away.
