Chapter 9: Home

  I jolted awake gasping. It took Efren a bit to calm me down.

  "Skye, Skye. Shh, shh. I'm right here. You're safe, you're okay." Efren says.

  I focus on Efren my eyes wide.

  "What did you see?" Efren asks.

  I took a few calming breaths before I answered him.

  "I was underwater, I was surrounded by shrapnel, and it was the Spector." I say.

  I feel Theo's anxiety peak, and I saw Efren looking at me calmly, but I knew there was fear in his eyes.

  "Was there any bodies?" Efren asks.

  I shake my head. I was still breathing heavily. Efren grabs my face in his hands.

  "Skye I need you to calm down. Breathe." Efren says.

  I nod, and focus on calming down.

  "Then it was just the ship." Efren says.

  I nod.

  "Is she alright back there?" One of the people driving us asks.

"Yeah she's fine." Efren reassures them.

"Good, because we're here." They say.

  I look around where we are I saw a hill in the distance, and we arrived at another town.

  "Good." I say.

  They drive towards the hill. When we reach the hill Efren, Theo, and I get out of the car. I pick up Saja and carry him to the house under the hill. The family friends knocked on the door, so the Aunt knew people she knew were here. The door opens. The family friends converse with the Aunt in low whispers, but then the Aunt's eyes shift to Efren, Theo, and I. I walk forward carrying Saja. He was asleep. Efren and Theo stayed behind, but they were close enough to me in case I needed help.

  "I don't know how much they told you, but Saja's parents were killed. Remnants of Big Brother chased him to a different town. He hid. I found him. We took care of the people chasing him, and now we're here." I say.

"Thank you." The Aunt says holding out her arms for him.

  I gently handed him over to her, and when I did that Saja stirred. He woke up.

  "Auntie?" Saja asks.

"Hey Saja." The Aunt says gently. "Can you wave good bye to your friends?" The Aunt asks.

  Saja faces us, and waves. We wave back, then I head back to Efren and Theo, while Saja and his Aunt turned towards her house and headed in.

  "Do you need a ride back?" The people who brought us here ask.

"No we're okay. We've got our ride coming now." Efren says while wiggling the communicator.

  The people nodded, then get back onto the hover car before taking off. Theo, Efren, and I waited for a little bit, then the Spector came. The Spector touched down a bit away. We headed towards it. The hatch came down, we got on. The hatch closed, and Helaina took off.

  "You go tell Lars, Helaina, Wren, and everyone else. I have to tell Lincoln and Kira." I say.

  Efren and Theo nod, before heading to do that. I head towards my room, and the crystal bond activates. Soon I see Kira in front of me in a blue-green hologram.

  "Skye, hey. What's going on?" Kira asks.

"Kira, I need to speak with Lincoln." I say.

"Yeah of course." Kira says, then disappears.

  Soon Lincoln takes her place.

  "Skye, what is it?" Lincoln asks.

"The rogue Big Brother units are trying to establish an empire." I say.

"Yes we know this." Lincolns says.

"What we didn't know is they're trying to create it with crystal users in charge. They're trying to get crystal children." I say.

  Lincoln scrunches his nose and his fingers squeeze between his eyes.

  "Alright, so I guess we have something we need to fix." Lincoln says.

  I nod.

  "Alright. Thanks for the news." Lincolns says.

  I nod. The crystal force goes away. I turn around to see Wren behind me. Now it's my turn to squeeze the bridge of my nose.

  "Yes Wren?" I ask.

  Wren doesn't say anything. He just comes up to me, and hugs me. I hug him back. My hands ball the fabric of his shirt up as I bury my face into the crook of his neck. Tears land on his shoulder. Wren doesn't say anything he just hugs me closer to him, and gently kisses my head.

  "They're taking kids Wren." I say.

"I know. Shh we'll figure it out." Wren says.

  I pull myself together, and then pull away from Wren.

  "So what's happened while I was away?" I ask.

"Yeah to two planets you didn't tell me you were going on." Wren says.

  I sigh.

  "This planet we knew we were going on. The crystal said to go here. The other planet I apologize for. We didn't know people were going to need help. But I was with everyone, even Felicity who's only job is to care for me." I say.

"Not everyone. You weren't on the planet with me, or Helaina, or Dagur." Wren says.

"Helaina is our pilot. She pilots the ship, and Dagur never leaves her side. You needed to help pilot the ship also." I say.

"Lars could've stayed, or Theo, or Efren to help pilot the plane. But it was me when I should've been with you." Wren says.

"Wren please. I don't want to argue with you." I say.
