"I want you to try something." Indra sat on the edge of the bed beside me.
I felt hungry. My stomach ached and my throat was acid.
"What?" I asked hoarsely.
"If you're sure you don't want to live as a vampire, I can offer you a solution." He said.
"What's the solution?"
"I can devour you."
I raised an eyebrow. Devour me?
"It'll put you in a deep sleep. You'll be aware to nothing. You'll feel nothing." He said.
He looked down; unproud of his suggestion.
"Do you want me to do that?"
It'll get the pain and sadness to go away.
I looked at him.
"Yes." I said. "Do it."
This nightmare will go away.
Indra scooted closer and wrapped his arms around me.
"I love you." He breathed. I heard tears in his voice. Is this goodbye?
"I love you too."
"I'll start now." He said as he let me go.
I nodded and his fangs were in my neck.
I grunted in pain. It was quick, I was fading away.
He held my head once it was over. I sighed with relief. Indra put my head on the pillow.
My body went numb. I couldn't feel anything. My eye slowly closed and I let out a final exhale.
Indra:
I closed my eyes.
"This is what he wanted." I told myself.
I laid on the couch downstairs with Burke on my stomach. I rubbed his back.
"I'm alone again."
Days passed.
"Luc." I called.
I sat on his bed beside him.
He laid still in the same position I left him. His lips and bottom eyelids were blue. I smoothed out the covers and placed them over his shoulders.
"Christmas passed." I said. "I got you a gift."
I sat on my knees and put my arms on the bed.
He looks so beautiful. Peaceful. How vulnerable he is.
I like to think he's happy like this.
The front door opened. I stood up. I left Luc's room and closed the door.
I wasn't alarmed or threatened. I sniffed the air as I walked through the hallway.
Mother.
Standing at the front door.
I came down the steps.
"I was wondering when you would show up." I said. I smiled at her a little.
She wore a dark gown along with a dark hood.
"I came to meet the vampire Luc -- the new addition to our coven." Mother said.
"Now where is he?"
I folded my hands together. "About that..."
"I...devoured him."
Mother grabbed me tightly.
