A while back, sometime after we returned to Romania, I snuck outside in the middle of the night to practice -- see what I was capable of.

I pushed off from the porch and ran. Ran into the woods. Without thinking about it I jumped onto a slanted fallen tree and ran up its trunk. I jumped into the air and my hand caught onto a branch and swung me forward. When I landed on my feet I continued to run.

"Whoa. I didn't have to think about that...it's like my body just knew what to do. Crazy." I thought to myself. I'm learning more about myself everyday. I think I have a bit of a freerunner thing going on. I have to tell Indra.

The wind whipped my face. I smiled and my teeth dried. I laughed as I ran to the mansion.

After reaching the balcony to my room I jumped up and vaulted over the railing.

I ran into Indra's room. It was dark and he laid on his back under the covers with his eyes closed. Of course he wasn't sleeping. I leaned close to his face; inches away from his nose.

"Indra!" He flinched and opened his eyes. With a confused expression he stared at me.

"I found a new ability of mine!" I chirped.

Indra pressed his head back into the pillow, putting a few more inches between us.

"Uh..." He said with a gravely voice. Was he actually asleep this time?

"I'm a freerunner!" I said with a huge grin.

"It's like I don't have to think about it! It comes so easily!"

Indra groaned a little.

"What is it? Can you do it? Is it common knowledge?" I questioned.

"No." Indra groaned. "Luc, lay down."

"Oh ok." I kicked off my shoes and climbed over him. I got under the covers and smiled.

"It's not so bad in the dark when I'm with you." I said. "I'm glad."

"Me too." Indra said quietly. Is he trying out sleeping? I wonder why he'd start now.

"So how come you were sleeping?" I asked when we woke up in the morning.

Indra pulled at his arm, "just trying something new."

I tilted my head, "but why?"

Indra hunched his shoulders. I mumbled and dropped the conversation.

The next day Indra came home with a loud box. I stood in the hallway. He smiled excitedly with his mouth open. I eyed him.

"Indra." I called accusingly. He froze before entering the living room, his happy face unwavering.

"I'm not doing anything." He said. I nodded. Totally believable.

"What's in the box?" Don't know why I asked. It was clearly kittens. More kittens.

Indra chuckled sheepishly.

"Indra." I called again. "You already have so many cats."

"Can never have too much. We have room!" He said.

"That's not the point. It's too much."

"They need us!" He whined. "Look!" He tilted the box.

"No." I turned my head to the side.

"Please! They're so cute!" He begged.

"Indra." I put my hand to my forehead. The kittens kept meowing.

"I'll take care of them!" He pleaded.

"Good grief." I looked at him. "Seriously?"

Indra smiled innocently.
