"Luc you can't just drop a bomb on us like that and leave!" Brian shouted at me when I got to the end of the driveway. I panicked and ran out here.
"Just wait." He put his hands on my shoulders and turned me around. He guided me back to the house where Mom was.
"Are you okay Luc?" Mom asked when Brian put me back inside.
"I'm not crazy." I said. "Entirely." I sat down again and Brian stood by mom.
"But it's true. Indra and I are vampires."
"Why are you telling us this Luc? Did something happen?" Mom asked.
"Yes something happened!" The two jumped as I yelled. "I mean-" I calmed down.
"I died! Indra took me away to Romania so everyone would be safe!"
"So you wouldn't harm us?" Mom asked lowly.
"Yeah that."
"But I'm better now! My tolerance is okay."
"See? I'm not attacking." I smiled.
The two shifted. I can't tell if they believe me or not. Maybe I should run around or show them my newfound strength.
"Look, I know it's hard to digest. Even I had troubles when Indra told me."
"Luc, please, I don't think vampires exist." Brian said. I heard the fear in his voice.
"Oh." I stepped over to him. "Then allow me."
I dropped back my head and opened my mouth and my fangs popped out.
Mom gasped and Brian yelled and stepped back.
I lowered my head and laughed.
"See?" I said.
Brian squeezed his mouth.
"Luc, you're," Mom breathed.
"A vampire." I finished her sentence.
"I would've really died if Indra hadn't stepped in." I sat back down to seem unthreatening.
Mom nodded, "I see."
"Where is he now?" She asked.
"On a plane on his way here." I said flippantly.
"Oh." She said.
I nodded my head. Brian finally calmed down and looked at me.
"That was scary." He panted with a smile. "Apparently you were brain dead. We're glad you're alive."
"Yeah...me too." I said. Even though I never wanted to be a vampire in the first place.
Mom's phone vibrated before ringing.
She pulled it from her pocket.
"It's Alexandria's daycare." She announced.
"Hello?" She answered.
"Hi Dr. Benson." A woman said from the other side. "Alexandria has been in a fight. Please come pick her up."
Is she kidding?
"Okay. I'll be there soon." Mom said.
"It's not even noon." I said when she hung up.
"Alexandria's been having problems...we thought daycare might help, being around kids her age, but she's just so angry."
"Maybe I can help." I said.
"Maybe." Mom stood up. "Brian, stay with Luc."
She grabbed her keys and left.
