It's been three years since Hawaii. Even though I'm already a psychologist, I still study like mad. Right now, my focuses are elsewhere.
I brushed against Indra as we sat on the bed. I kissed on his cheek and hugged him.
"Indra?" I called. I sat on my knees and looked at him seriously. He smiled at me.
"I think I'm ready."
"Let's have a baby."
Indra's eyes slowly widened and his smile grew.
"Yes!" He dove forward and hugged me tightly. He let go and sat back. "What do we do?"
"This is a really big step Indra. We need to plan this." I said.
"A surrogate seems more likely." He said.
I don't really know much about hiring a surrogate. Research time!
"Okay." I got off the computer. Indra was looking over my shoulder the whole time I was researching.
"Indra, darling?" I turned to him with a serious expression. He stood up straight and looked into my eye.
"This is going to take time; finding the right person." Indra nodded. I know he's going to want to rush in to this.
"And here in Romania the surrogate is legally the mother. She could decide to keep the baby even if it was mine or yours." I explained. Indra looked down. Is he thinking about using his powers?
He soon looked up, "but we could talk to her. Make an agreement that she has to give the baby to us."
"It's not that simple. Sometimes when they look at the baby they decide at the last minute they can't part."
"Okay." Indra nodded. "But we can still try, right?"
"Yes. We can try."
I shifted to the side of the chair and crossed my legs. Indra sat prim and still. We sat in an office.
The woman sat in a chair diagonal of us. We matched with her. She was young and dark haired with delicate features. Sofia, her name was.
Honestly, by reading her I can tell she's a bit ditzy. Too ditzy to pull one over on us, or take care of a child.
"So..." Indra grabbed at the end of his shirt. "Have you been doing this long?"
"Only two years, Mr. Alehanson." Sofia answered.
"You can call me Indra." He smiled politely.
The corner of my lips turned up as a question surfaced.
"Why did you become a surrogate?" I asked.
Sofia held up a finger, "my best friend couldn't conceive, so I stepped in." She put her hand down. "Turns out I really liked doing it, carrying for mothers who couldn't. And others."
"That's great." I said with a smile.
"I'm so glad we matched. We've..." Indra looked at me, then to Sofia. "...been looking forward to a child for a while."
He fiddled with his hands excitedly and couldn't stop smiling.
"This'll be great. Once you're pregnant we'll take you to your appointments, help you with whatever you need." He said.
My chest burned. I rubbed it. I knew exactly what this was.
"You can-" I cut him off. "Indra I need to talk to you."
Indra looked at me, puzzled. I got up and stormed out of the room. I paced the hall with my arms crossed. Indra closed the door and joined me in the hallway.
