Magical butterfly (Circus AU)

It was the start of May. The hot start of summer brought the circus with it. The circus troop was in the yard, preparing for the first show of the season. Giyuu was tending to the lion he would be taming. But, having lost one of the acrobats, one of
"the three magical butterflies" last season, had lost the circus money. The Kimetsu circus had to do exeptionally well this season.

Inosuke, one of the two Jesters from the circus, ran while flapping a newspaper around. He looked angry.

-The news are mocking us! They are saying we're old news! The hot headed boy raged. Giyuu closed the lion cage and grabbed the newspaper. His eyes scanned the paper till a headline caught his eye. He read the article out loud.

"The greatest circus on this side of the world, Kimetsu circus, is getting old. The shows are too ordinary and having lost Kanae, the main performer of Arial acts and the oldest of the three magical butterflies it seems like old Kimetsu circus will have their last season this year." Giyuu scowled as he finished reading. They were more than just one act. Rengoku's fire eating and fire tricks were on point. The Kamado siblings did great magical shows. Inosuke and Zenitsu were working as clowns/jesters. Sanemi's sword swallowing and Tengen's knife throwing was an interesting and thrilling show. Iguro's snake charming and snake shows were always a pleasure. Mitsuri had great Ballance on the tightrope. The all seeing eye of Muichiro and
Gyomei was also something people enjoyed. Aoi and the ringleaders children handled the tickets, snacks and cleaning. The ringleader was a kind man, who had gotten everyone a job at the circus, they all struggled in life but the circus gave them something worthwhile.

-I say we bring this to the ringleader! Sanemi said and ripped the paper out of Giyuus hands. He started making his way to the place where Kagaya, the ringleader, lived. Sanemi slammed the door and didn't even say hello. He cut to the point.

-Have you read this?! (Alexander Hamilton~🎶 Sorry😅) the white haired man asked and marched to Kagaya. The ringleader shook his head and responded in a calm tone, so soothing it could send you to sleep.

-No, Sanemi, what is it? He asked politely.

-The news think we are going to quit after this season! He said and tossed the paper to his desk. Kagaya didn't speak, he looked behind Sanemi at a wall. Giyuu turned to see a poster of Kanae, Kanao and Shinobu doing an acrobatic show.

-I see... He finally said.

-What do you mean "I see"? Giyuu asked. A faint smile appeared on the ringleaders face.

-Kanae was someone we all loved, she was a pillar for this circus.. but the show must go on, we will show them all. He said and placed a top-hat on his head. Sanemi, had mischeavios grin on his face.

The sweet and salty scent of popcorn and cotton candy floated trough the are. The first show of the season was about to begin. Everyone wanted to show the press that even if Kanae was gone, the circus would stand tall.

Giyuu was making preparations. He put on his show suit and got his whip ready. He wasn't going to hurt the lion, of course, but the whip was still essential for the effect. He heard a knock on his door.

-Come in! He called. Shinobu slipped in to the trailor. She was wearing tights and she had plastic butterflies clipped into her hair. She looked good.

-Are you ready? She asked. Her tone was a bit off, it was not the same teasing tone of voice she usually had with him. Giyuu nodded slowly.

-Whats wrong? He blurted out. Shinobu seemed a bit surprised at the question.

-What do you mean Tomioka-san? I'm great! She tried to lie. It didn't work on Giyuu though.

-Come on you pest, out with it. He grunted. Shinobu sighed and ran a hand trough her hair.

-Do you think we can do this, without Kanae? She asked. Giyuu understood now. She was feeling nervous.

-Look.. even if we lost Kanae, we can still preform. You are the best acrobat in Japan. It will be alright. He said softly. Shinobu smiled and giggled. But she still had worry in her eyes.

-You're right. It was silly of me to ask. Giyuu rolled his eyes and wrapped her in a hug. Shinobu was stiff at first, surprised at the sudden contact. Soon she relaxed a bit and rubbed his back.

-Now, let's show them what the Kimetsu circus can do! Shinobu cheered and left Giyuu's trailor, dragging the man behind her by his hand. Giyuu had an ever so slight smile on his lips.

-Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to the opening of a new season of our circus! Kagaya hyped up the crowd. He raised his hat and like on cue, the stage lit up with bright spotlights.

First to enter the arena were Inosuke and Zenitsu. They put on the clown show, the crowd seemed to enjoy it quiet a bit. The children giggled at the dumb movements and pranks the two boys put on.

Next up was Tengen and Sanemi. Sanemi took out a long sword and grinned wildly at the crowd before pushing the blade down his mouth. Tengen took sharp daggers and started to put on a show with them. Sanemi let go of the sword and bended over. There were gasps and cheers from the crowd. Some of the audience coverd their eyes.

It was finally time for Giyuu and his lion taming. The magnificent male lion with golden fur, a dark brown mane and piercing golden eyes was rolled to the stage in a cage. It was put in to a metal pen with fences that was on the stage. Giyuu promptly took his whip and stepped in to the enclosure. He smirked at the lion, his old partner. It was tamed and a vet had given it some soothing medicine. Nothing that would hurt it, but to make sure it didn't go wild and attack Giyuu. Giyuu snapped his whip in the are and the lion reared up. People in the audience gasped and Giyuu continued with a few more snaps. This time the lion approached Giyuu but Giyuu gently tapped the lions side. The lion stepped aside and jumped on a wooden crate. Now Giyuu whipped the ground and the lion sat down. The audience was dead silent. Holding their breath. Lastly, Giyuu tapped the lions paw with the whip and it layed down resting it's head on it's paws. Giyuu breafly pat the lion's mane and turned around, bowing. The crowd exploded in to cheers. Giyuu smiled and walked out of the enclosure as the lion was pulled away.

It was time for the main attraction. The former three, now two, magical butterflies. Shinobu took a deep breath and entered the arena with her sister. She climbed on top of her platform and waved to the audience. All eyes were glued to her. She gave a breaf smile to Giyuu who was peeking trough the curtains with the rest of the circus troop. Giyuu nodded to her as to say "you got this."

Shinobu threw herself at a wooden pole swing. She grabbed on and started swinging back and forth, keeping a tight grip with her hands. Kanao followed after her. The two sisters did jumps and tricks in the are. The crowd was absolutely mesmerized by what they saw. For the finishing trick, Shinobu climbed to sit on the swing and stood up. Giyuu's heart pounded. Kanao did the same thing and with a nod, the two jumped out of their swings and passed eachoter. They did a flip in the are before grabbing on to the opposite pole swing they jumped from. A few seconds of silence followed, and then the whole tent was filled with applause, cheering, whistling and praces. Giyuu leaned on a pillar and smirked. It seemed that the circus would be alright.
