A 9 year old Giyuu was sulking as his sister put on a light jacket on a chilly, early autumn morning. He wasn't that big of a fan of going outside in this weather, but his sister wouldn't listen. Tsutako had promised to watch her brother for her parents and wanted to go meet her friend Kanae who also had a 9 year old little sister. Convenient, right? Giyuu didn't want to go, but, at least he had his trading cards, he didn't know how to play the game associated with the cards, but he really liked the way they looked.
-Giyuu, please, I haven't had the chance to see Kanae in such a long time, try to be nice to her sister." Tsutako said as she crouched a little to get on Giyuu's eye level.
-Alright... I'll try, but she better not touch my cards." He sighed.
.
Walking to the park wasn't that bad today. The rain had ceased since last evening and the air smelled nice and fresh. Giyuu couldn't help but be awestruck at the leaves that were starting to form a yellow and orange hue as they walked.
The park had a few places that kids could enjoy. These things included a sandbox, see-saw, swings as well as a set of monkey bars. What caught Giyuu's eye, though, was a big oak tree he could sit under, the ground was well sheltered from the rain, so Giyuu sat on the ground and took out his trading cards. The young Tomioka heard Tsutako's voice ring out.
-Kanae, it's so good to see you!" Giyuu glanced up to see a pair of sisters walk towards his sister. The one who was presumably Kanae was tall and wore a pleasant smile, her sister was behind her. The girl looked normal, but something about her seemed weird to Giyuu.
.
Giyuu continued on admiring his cards and setting them in different orders, from oldest to newest, from rarest to most common and from favourite to least favourite. Giyuu's favourite had to be a holographic card, it was one of the rarest of the series.
-Hey, what'cha doing?" He suddenly heard a girl's voice from his side. Kanae's sister had sat down next to Giyuu and was grinning at him. Giyuu didn't feel like responding to the girl, so he simply ignored her and started to organize his cards in a different way again.
-I'm shinobu, by the way, what's your name?" The girl asked next. Giyuu looked at Shinobu for a little while like he was going to give an answer, but still didn't respond.
Shinobu didn't give up, for the next 10 or so minutes, Shinobu introduced herself and told Giyuu about herself, every once in a while asking him something in return only to get silece as an answer. Eventually, Shinobu figured she wouldn't get him to talk without some provoking. Shinobu had noticed Giyuu looking at his holographic card more than a few times in the 10 minutes they had sat under the oak. She got a mischievous idea. The next time Giyuu looked at his card and set it down on the grass, Shinobu snatched it and ran. At first, Giyuu was starteled, when he realised she had taken the card, he sprung up and chased after the grinning girl.
-Give it back!" He yelled and frowned. Shinobu slowed down a little and turned to face him, only to stick out her young and keep running, which annoyed Giyuu. The two ran around the playground, Shinobu took a shortcut trough the sandbox, almost hitting a toddler while Giyuu ran around it. This cat and mouse game continued till Shinobu climbed up on the monkey bars and balanced herself. Giyuu cursed his weak arm strength. Shinobu seemed pleased with herself as she grinned down on the boy triumphantly.
-Why did you take it?!" Giyuu asked, his voice full of annoyance.
-You wouldn't answer me, that's rude, y'know?" Shinobu said, feign hurt.
-Ugh, I didn't want to come here in the first place." Giyuu admited. Shinobu laughed in response.
-And you think I did?" She asked, amusement dancing in her voice.
-Look, of I tell you about myself, will you give me the card back?" Giyuu tried.
-hmm... Will you tell me about the cards too?" She asked. Giyuu frowned and opened his mouth to object, but Shinobu took hold of the card by its corner.
-Come on, you wouldn't want be to bend the card, would you?~" she asked. Giyuu's heart picked up pace, he didn't want his card to be bent.
-Ok ok! Fine I'll do what you say!" He promised. Shinobu smiled.
-Great!"
.
So, the two spent an hour together, sitting under the oak tree and sharing their interests, plus Giyuu told Shinobu all about his cards, she thought he looked really excited when he was going on about his precious cards. Shoinobu even convinced Giyuu to swing with her on the swings for a while, he seemed to enjoy it, even if just a little bit.
When Tsutako and Kanae came back to get their siblings, they found them laughing and getting along just fine.
