Hanahaki

Hanahaki. The disease in witch a person coughs up the petals of a flower, it is caused by one-sided love. The disease stops when the beloved returns your feelings or when you die. The flowers can be removed by surgery but the romantic feelings for your crush dissapier along with the infection.

Shinobi crouched over a bucket. She was coughing up the petals of the small wisteria flower. There were quiet a lot of flowers today. She had gotten the Hanahaki disease a couple of months ago. At first she didn't want to belive she had caught feelings for the water pillar. But she choudun't deny it. She had to suffer in silense. She knew she whoud die, but she was to afraid to admit her feelings, a hashiras heart can not take control. A hashira must stay focused on his or hers duty. She had a few close calls but she had been sucsesfull at hiding her pain. She was getting weaker. The flowers where draining her energy, but the only one who seemed to notice was Mitsuri.

Everyone was sitting at the table for breakfast in the headquarters. Shinobu was smiling and chating like usual. Giyuu sat farther away but Shinobu choud see him look at her from time to time. About halfway trough the food Shinobu felt a familiar tingling feeling in her troath. Her lips trembled as she uterd some words, trying not to cough Infront of everyone.

-I need to go, I have to use the restroom. She got up quickly. Tanjiro furrowed his brows.

-Are you alright? I can smell that you are in distressed. Damn you and your nose Tanjiro! Shinobu panicked for a heartbeat, Giyuu looked at her hearing what Tanjiro said, Shinobu gathered herself and put on a smile.

-Of course, Tanjiro. Before anyone else choud say anything Shinobu had got away. Giyuu had a feeling something bad was going on.

-You just can't let me be, can you, Tomioka-san? Shinobu mutterd while she wiped her mouth on her sleeve. She looked down to see a bit of blood had stained her cloth. It wasn't much but she shoud still wash it. She got up and hid the bucket she had coughed all the flowers in. She didn't notice some wisteria had sticked on to her clothes. She went trough the headquarters. Before she choud get to the butterfly estate, Mitsuri stoped her.

-Shinobu we need to talk. She said quietly. Shinobu blinked in suprise at her serius tone.

-What..? The insect pillar asked. Mitsuri dragged her to a corner.

-What is going on? You have been acting strange, you look tired, I can see it trough your smile. Mitsuri asked worriedly, Shinobus heartbeat increased.

-I have no idea what you are talking about, I have just been so busy it is wearing me out. She tried to convince her friend. Mitsuri shook her head.

-No, I can see you are lying, you can trust me with anything. I hate seeing you in pain, please, let me help. Mirsuris voice cracked a bit, her eyes were filled with worry. Shinobu sighed.

-Follow me. Shinobu mutterd and started leading Mitsuri to her room. When they got in Shinobu pulled the bucket out of her closet. She brought it to Mitsuri.

-What.. what is this? The love hashira asked looking down on the blood coverd petals. Shinobu just looked at her with teary eyes. Mitsuris face went from confused to horrified when she realized.

-Hanahaki disease? She asked and got up. Shinobu simply nodded.

-Is it.. Giyuu? She continued. Shinobu, yet again, nodded, it wasn't a suprise that she had figured it out

-Shinobu-san? A male voice was heard from the outside of the butterfly estate. It was Giyuu. Shinobu nearly jumped out of her skin.

Giyuu POV

When Shinobu ran out at breakfast I got a bit worried. I ate discreetly but swiftly and got up. I planed on talking to her. I made my way around the headquarters before I saw something on the ground. I crouched down and saw that it was a wisteria petal. But it was coverd in a red substance. My heart leaped when I realized it was blood. I took the small petal in my hand and looked around for more. They led towords the butterfly estate. I got even more nervous. I had develobed a crush on Shinobu. It sounded so stupid but I choudun't control it. When I got to her door I took a deep breath.

Shinobu POV

I glanced at Mitsuri for advice. She shrugged.

-Come in! I said while I hid the bucket of bloody petals under my bed. Giyuu came in and noded to Mitsuri. Mitsuri took that as her que to leave. When Mitsuri closed the door a silense filled the are. Until Giyuu spoke up.

-I found these.. he said while he held a few blood coverd petal between his index and middle finger. Shinobu bit her lower lip as she started to panick.

-Where did you find those? She asked. Giyuus eyes were filled with sorrow.

-I found them leading to your estate. I folowed them cos I was curious.. what are these? He asked walking over to Shinobu.

-Wisteria petals it seems. She mumbled.

-Why are they coverd in blood and why do they lead here? He asked.

-I don't know. Shinobu awserd trying to sound convincing. Giyuu snorted.

-Don't play with me! I know there is something going on. He said coming closer to Shinobu.

-Nothing is wrong! She insisted. Giyuu grabbed her sleeve and looked at it.

-Then why is there blood on your sleeve?! He snapped, his eyes glinting like he was about to cry. Shinobu swallowed.

-I... I can't tell you.. she whispered. Giyuu wrapped her in a hug. Shinobu was taken off guard but she didn't protest. After a while they both sat down on her bed.

-Please.. you are important to me, tell me what's wrong. Giyuu said squesing her hand. Shinobu looked at him and nodded.

-I have the Hanahaki disease. She said. Giyuus lip trempeld.

-Who is it..? He asked. He was on the verge of breaking. The thought of Shinobu loving someone else felt unbearable.

-You. She said looking away. Giyuu instantly turned his head to look at her. He choudun't belive it.

-You, felt the same as I did for you? He asked with a rare smile.

-Yes.. WAIT, she looked up at him smiling at her, this choud not be true.

-You like me? She asked hesitantly. Giyuu noded and gave a small close eyed smile. Shinobu huged him tightly. After staying there embracing eachoter for a few moments. Giyuu caught her lips in a passionate kiss. Shinobu melted in to it right away. After a long moment they parted to take a breath.

-I love you, Tomioka-san. Shinobu beamed. Giyuu huffed.

-I love you too, Shinobu-san.
